Let's do a curious unexpected topics meme.

Those who wish to participate will say so, and I will give them three topics, or spheres of interests, which I think they are not interested in, or maybe I would be even surprised to learn that they have an affinity with.

It would be curious to learn who will be more surprised, those who hear what people think they are not interested in or cannot do, or those who learn that their expectations of people are either incorrect or spot on.

I was given my topics by [profile] jaella_n_gilla:

1) swimming
I loved to swim when I was a child. I remember my dad telling me that during our trips to Hawaii, I was turning blue with cold in the water, but I'd beg for a few more minutes swimming.

Then I didn't swim for many years. Back around the early 00s, I took some swimming lessons during the winter, which might not have been the right idea, given that it was an outdoor pool. It was in California, and a heated pool, but still, the cold blast of air walking to the pool and, worse, getting out, was pretty hard to take. But I did learn to swim again and did so for several years.

Now I haven't swum again for a while. I do have free access to the college's pool during the school year, but I'd rather review how to swim in a pool that's less deep. (The divers also use the one at the college.) When I take Calculus in the fall, I could use the pool at a health club nearby. I have access to it through my health insurance. [personal profile] susandennis's posts about her swims is inspiring me.

2) ER/doctors tv series
I don't watch television very often and don't know what doctors TV series are on.

3) cats
Oh, I could write reams about cats! I have two cats. Zara is a small, lithe, athletic gray cat. She interacts with people very much on her own terms, but can be very sweet and vulnerable too. Mimi is a very large, fat, calico cat who is a lap cat. I recently (well, it's been almost a year) lost my beloved cat Harlee to kidney disease. She was my cat doppelganger; if I was a cat, I would have had her personality. I also have had five other cats who have passed away. Plus one other cat who stayed with my ex when we split up.

Oh, bloody hell. I'm menopausal and was having endometrial bleeding again last night. I had some a couple of months ago and had some polyps taken out via a D&C. I really don't want to go through the whole routine again.

The bleeding seems to have stopped this morning, so I'll just keep an eye on it.

I had problems falling asleep thinking about the bleeding and overslept this morning. Guess that I need to drive. My ears feel stuffed up and I'm not hearing well, which contributed to my oversleeping.

I've been eating crackers and garlic hummus at work and is it ever good.

I love Greek lemon-rice soup. It's a thing in the Detroit area, where my mom lives, at the various Coney Island restaurants. It has lemon juice, chicken broth, chicken, egg, and rice (orzo) in it. I found a couple of recipes, and it doesn't sound that hard to make. Walmart claims that they have orzo. That's good because the cans of the soup that I've been getting are expensive. Also, I have to drive 30 miles to get them.

Note to self: check out Cornelius NC as a retirement place. Charlotte is also interesting and funky, but I'd prefer to live near the water. I've been pricing a trip to the area.

I can't face another burrito, so I think that I'll make grilled cheese and tomato soup.

I think that I'm going to tackle bread-making this weekend because I'm getting low on bread. Should be interesting.

Got sucked up by a book. Need to finish writing and sleep. I need to get up early for a teleconference call.
