Buongiorno!
May. 20th, 2012 02:02 amI now am studying French almost every day now, so I'm making progress. Reading knowledge of a foreign language is the top skill that would help me find a job. Spanish would be more useful, but because I took French from middle school through college, I figured that I could breeze through it. I have Rosetta Stone and a grammar book. I also bought the first two Harry Potter books in French, but haven't tackled them yet. I've been kicking myself for not working on languages when I was unemployed in California, but I couldn't have afforded Rosetta Stone.
However, I also wanted to play around with Italian, but didn't want to shell out $$$ for Rosetta Stone. Then I received a Google Offer (perfect timing!) with a discount for Live Mocha, which I bought. I forgot that I had signed up for Live Mocha for free last year, but now I'm good for another year. I also paid a little more to get access to all the languages that they offer. I started their Italian course, and it's pretty good. My mom is going to take it too, so we can practice Italian together.
I also tried their Lithuanian course (my dad was born in Lithuania), but found that I really don't like the sound of the language. That's weird because I grew up hearing it when we visited the relatives. Italian, on the other hand, sounds cool. I also signed up for Spanish. Yes, I know, I won't be able to do everything. I think that I have the learning equivalent of my eyes being bigger than my stomach.
