Laptop Revisited

The laptop deal fell through because the WiFi on the machine stopped working. The seller offered me a discount and an Ethernet cable, but that won't work for me, so I asked for a refund.
But! I just bought a much nicer (and more expensive) used machine that has 2.30GHz, 6 GB RAM, a 500 GB hard drive, Office 2010--and the entire Adobe suite (which probably is worth the price that I paid alone). It's a 17-inch laptop, which actually I'm not thrilled about because those suckers are heavy (I pulled my back out once when I swung one of those in a messenger bag on my shoulder), but I probably won't be hauling it around that often.
bandicoot, your idea about using the old laptop as a travel laptop is a good idea, so maybe I won't install Linux on it after all. There's definitely something to be said for having a backup laptop.
