l copied off some music to take with me on the trip. I found an online virtual piano that I can use to help me.

Tried on my new pair of white jeans and some shorts. I’ll pack them tomorrow morning.

My “shock clock” is charging. It’s made in Canada, so I’m giving some money to our friends up north.

Overslept a touch, but got up early. It’s quiet outside. People must be sleeping in. No, I didn’t oversleep. My alarm went off after I got up. Fed us all. Napped.

Lily was playing with a q-tip. Oliver had to see what she was doing. And then Bella ran at them both. I’m telling Bella to chill, but she’s manic. Bella was barking at Lily and Oliver, who were wrestling. Everyone wanted my Lean Cuisine pizza. Okay, they seem to have settled down :) Now Lily is chasing Oliver.

Oh crud, I forgot to do my music theory homework. After my shower, I guess.

Bought extra chargers so I won’t have to grab them at the last minute.

Had my voice lesson. It went well, and I have some exercises to work on while I’m gone. Zara falls asleep when I sing. Aww :) (My singing teacher is in Canada too.) Here comes Zara.

I discovered the glories of Costco. I got my membership card. I bought my pet supplies, plus some cereal and munchies (their raspberry cheesecake bites are to die for). And I fell in love with a gray cat tree in which the platforms look like leaves. That would be perfect for my bedroom, so I bought it. I got a Costco hot dog and soda too. Then I returned my jeans at Staples and bought scissors and tape to put in my suitcase to attach the cruise luggage tag when I arrive in Miami. And I forgot to get big plastic bags for dog and cat food. Maybe I could use kitchen garbage bags.

I'm tired. I might be dehydrated, so I need to drink some water. I think that I'll work on packing after I finish feeding the hordes. Then I'll go to bed early and get up early. (This is a good time to test the "Shock Clock".)

As long as I'm upstairs, I'll post, though Mimi says that I should pet her instead.

Bought some collapsible walking sticks to take on the trip. There are some walking tours, so they might help. (And yes, it's before the boycott starting at midnight, but if I think of something that I absolutely need to have for the trip, I might have to break the boycott.)

Overslept but got up in plenty of time for my shower. Oliver was walking on top of the shower, peering in and meowing :)

Yay. The vet will take Bella for boarding. Sigh of relief.

Now I'm thinking of waiting post-Trump to have solar installed. There is more likely to be tax credits.

We have a Friday "watercooler" Zoom call. Were were talking about Little Sleepies pajamas, among other things, and they have an "around the world'" one that I'd like to get for spring. But I'll wait until I get back.

The pet waste people cleaned up the yard and did a good job. Now I need to pick up after Bella until I board her. It's kind of tough at night. Maybe I'll take my phone and note where she pooped so that I can clean it up in the daylight. Oh, the joys of dog ownership: so much revolves around poop.

I think that I'm going to be too tired to pull an all-nighter to clean, so I'll go to Plan B and get up at 5 AM to clean. Music is a must! Tonight, maybe I could open some boxes and enter info for the pets' microchips and pack and other low-key stuff. Oh, and scan my music for my singing lesson.

Hmm. I should get some protein bars for my flight. I'm probably going to DoorDash when I get to Miami, but the flight is three-and-a-half hours. And I need something to eat in the morning.

It's kind of quiet and peaceful upstairs in the afternoon sun, listening to the burble of the aquarium.

My dad said to hold off on construction because if there is a recession, you should be able to get good deals. I hadn't thought of that aspect of it. He thinks that we should know if there will be a recession by the end of the summer. But I really want the fence replaced, which requires the garage to be finished so that I know where to end the fence. Hmm.

Oh! I can get Google's User Interface design course for free from the University. All I need is the time, which I don't have. Maybe a little later down the road.

I'm getting involved in new and interesting areas at work (involving with different areas of the system on which we work). That is making me happy.

I was feeling like I perked up a little but now I'm yawning.

Yeah, I need to get to bed early. My patience with the critters is fraying. (Bella ate Lily’s food. I gave Lily more food, but Oliver, who had had a full bowl of food, tried to eat it. Meanwhile, Bella was looking for a chance to eat more of the food. And I was getting cranky.) I think that I need sleep.

days_unfolding: (Default)

I put a date on my calendar to plant sunflowers, coneflowers, and zinnias. Probably wildflowers too.

Bella had the three-times-daily frustration called “The cats are eating!” I said, “Bella, that’s CAT food. It’s for CATS. You are not a CAT.” She thinks that she still should get their food.

Woke up around 10 AM. Measured my gardens with some help (not!) from Bella.

Got my grocery order. Lily was eating the crumbs from my turnover. Filled Mimi's fountain. Fed us all.

Ordered a boatload of seeds and plants. It's exciting!

I need to figure out what song to work on for singing lessons.

Amazon needs better UX people. When I set an alarm for my Echo Spot, there is a large button at the bottom to delete the alarm and a small link at the top right to save it. I press the damn delete button all the time. I wonder if they did usability studies.

Napped. It just occurred to me that I can’t plant flowers along the fence because I’m replacing the fence. I’ll have to do something else with them. I could plant the zinnias under the tree in the front yard.

I told Oliver that we have our own orange menace, and that would be him :) He did sit nicely on my lap for a couple of minutes, but then he started biting. He is now in the food box and Bella is whining because she can’t reach him.

Hmm. Now I’m wondering if I should board Oliver while I’m gone because he’ll try to get out.

I have to remember to sign Bella up for training. Ugh. Registration starts while I’m gone. I’ll put a reminder on my calendar and hope that I’ll check it. I’ll try a pop-up reminder too.

I have to check-in for my cruise, which means that I need to clear a credit card. I also need to book the bus to O’Hare and my Miami tour.

I have a boatload of things to do today, so I should get into the shower soon. I have my meeting with the life coach. And I need to work on the kitchen. And practice singing and piano. (Zara will like that.) And start packing.

I was wondering when to start shaving my legs for the trip when I remembered that I have a massage next Saturday. I’ll do it before the massage.

Oliver knocked over my donuts and turnovers. I’m now missing a turnover. Bella has it. Chaos central :)

I ordered more blue socks. I have a million black pairs, but the blue ones are MIA. I was looking for a pair of white jeans. I couldn’t find one in my size in Gloria Vanderbilt, but Woman Within has a pair that I’ll try.

I took a shower without “help”. It was very nice. Now I need to feed the critters.

I ordered the white jeans in two different sizes to see which fits better.

I'm now checked into the cruise. Paid my credit cards. Oh, I need to find the first hotel that I booked for Miami and cancel it (done). Booked the bus. I'm trying to book a hotel in Chicago on my trip back, but the Web site is being wonky. I tried another browser and it worked. Booked the Art Deco tour in South Beach.

Had my session with the life coach. She thinks that I should get someone to help me move some of the stuff out of the living room to the storage shed and upstairs, so I'll post on NextDoor to ask if someone has a kid who would like to make some money. I also will put quiet time on my phone during the evenings to keep me from scrolling. (I could go upstairs to log onto the Web, but that takes more effort.)

Now I'll take Bella out, eat dinner, and do some cleaning and practice singing and piano before I go to sleep. Mimi is whining because she doesn't want to get off of my lap.

It’s miserable out—a mix of freezing rain and snow. Even Bella agrees. I’m thawing. I hope that the roads are okay for my errands tomorrow.

The food has knocked me out. I’ve started the nighttime feeding process, although I also soaked a litter box. It would be good to get up early to run errands earlier.

days_unfolding: (Default)

Woke up at 8 AM. Bella saw some dogs out for a walk.

I’m looking for used grow light setups to start plants in the basement. I would have to start tomatoes right after I get back from my trip.

Okay, I don’t get this. I took Bella outside and stayed out for a good long time. She peed. And we came in. And she pooped in the bathroom. I did find her lost ball, which might have distracted her.

Bella on the picnic table:

bella_table.jpg

There is a group called Indivisible that is holding a webinar about action plans to combat Trump’s changes tonight. I’ll attend. And there is a local group that I emailed.

Got us all fed. I want to take a nap, but I have Bella, Oliver, and Lily in here. This is not restful :) Oliver is out but Lily is still in here and Bella wants to play. I think that Lily needs to leave, alas. Okay, they’ve settled down.

Lily above the bedroom door:

lily_door.jpg

Napped. Bella and Lily crashed out too.

Some neighbors look like they’re tapping a maple tree? Bella keeps trying to pull slimy leaves out of the plant saucers, so I tipped them all over. She keeps trying to pin Oliver down. Bella is now pawing the water dishes.

I’m trying to decide what to do when. I’m going to eat lunch. Then I think that I’ll corral Oliver and work on the aquarium so that the water can warm up so that I can put the plants in. But hmm, do I need to throw myself together for the webinar tonight? I need to put clothes in the dryer first. Then I’ll work on the kitchen. Okay, dryer, food, shower, aquarium, kitchen.

Me: Bella, whatever you’re doing, don’t do it. Leave Oliver alone. Lily, don’t eat the plant. Etc.

Hmm. I also like tops with pockets. (This is why I live in hoodies all winter long.). I looked at The Vermont Country Store and found a top that I really like, but no pockets. Sigh. I found a linen tunic with pockets on Etsy that I’d like in Dusty Rose.

It got up to 53F/12C today. False Spring.

I had Oliver and Lily in with me in the bathroom while I showered. I moved my soda so that Oliver wouldn’t knock it over but he did anyway :)

Bella pooped outside so yay.

I think that I’ll need garden fencing because Bella walks through the garden, especially because I want a vegetable garden. I’m looking at some fencing at Home Depot. I also need to get the fabric covers out of the gardens. It doesn’t keep the weeds out anyway.

I attended the Call to Action webinar. They want us to visit our Senator's offices to put pressure on them to keep Russell Vought from being confirmed as OMB Director. I emailed the local group to say that I want to join, but I don't have a group with which to go to Springfield.

I haven't eaten dinner yet, so I'm going to go downstairs and work on the kitchen while the pizza is baking. I should take Bella out first (done, and the pizza is in the oven).

I’m trying to gather up the recycling, but Bella is grabbing the cat food cans, which is why they’re on the floor in the first place. She also grabbed an envelope from me. Aargh.

Ate dinner with marked attention from Oliver, Lily, and Bella. Now I'm upstairs with Mimi. I didn't get as much done as I had hoped. I'm going to get up early to give Bella more time outside before work. Mimi is paying attention to me. I need to get my music in the binder for choir tomorrow. Oh, and I need to do Italian homework tomorrow.

Oops, I need to write the trust.

days_unfolding: (Default)

I forgot to do laundry today. I guess that I start work in my pajamas. I can sleep a little later in that case.

I’ve been using the electric toothbrush and WaterPik. I wind up dousing the mirror with the WaterPik, but my teeth do feel squeaky clean.

Woke up at 7:30 AM. The puppy was sleepy but got up. Now she has her squeaky ball. I’m trying to wake up and warm up.

Submitted a Walmart order. My membership in Walmart+ has really paid off.

Oliver was up on the “kitty highway“ above the cabinets. Bella was looking at him like, what are you doing up there? Now she’s chasing the youngsters. It’s a zoo here. I told her that I was told that she was chill. She’s not acting like it :)

Got the clothes in the dryer.

Hmm. There is a “new to CU” mixer in February. Also, Hospice Hearts (the organization that takes care of pets when their owner is sick or dies) is looking for volunteers. I might join. I could do pet transport and work adoption events on the weekend. Hmm, I wonder if I should foster a dog? That would get Bella a friend but I could give it back :) But the dog would need to like cats. Maybe not.

Oy vey. Oliver ate some of Lily's wet food. I gave her some dry food, and he knocked into it and spilled it. I threw my hands up. At least, she got SOME food in her.

I was pondering on how to set up Mimi when I'm gone in March. I might take the gate down so that she can get water if something happens with the pet sitter. Better to deal with Oliver than no water. Yeah, I worry.

Bella is being manic. She’s been squishing Oliver, which he doesn’t like. I told her to cut it out and that I wouldn’t like it either. I’m worried because he’s crying out and she could hurt him.

Napped over lunch. The puppy is still dozing.

The ladder is here. It's tall enough that I should be able to change light bulbs in the living room. And the light in the cold bathroom, which is why I bought it. The critters are like, what is THAT? I also got the binder for my piano music. I forgot to get sheet protectors, so I ordered some from Amazon. And I got my Google Home speaker, so I'm going to set it up and play Bach while I excavate the kitchen.

Mimi has been picking at her food. I wonder if I could ask the vet for an appetite stimulant. She must have heard my thought because she went over to nose at the food.

Bella lay down in the yard to chew on a big stick, so she clearly thinks that it's warm. I talked her into coming inside though.

Hmm. I saw [personal profile] susandennis' post mentioning yoga pants with pockets, and I thought, oh that would be good. But I wear petites. But I found some on Amazon. Excellent.

I want to get Bella one of those round fluffy faux fur beds, but they're kind of expensive. They have them on Amazon though. I would like one myself! They sell small ones for cats too, but I was going to get the cats heated beds. But Oliver would like one because he's been sleeping on the folded faux fur rug from the bedroom.

Now Mimi is seriously eating. Good. And drinking.

Fed the poochka. Now I’m working on the cats (done).

Hmm. I want some white plastic baskets to organize pet stuff. I need to go to Dollar Tree and see what they have.

Got my Google Home speaker set up. It’s a lot easier than Echo Dot. The sound is better too. I decided to play classic rock.

I’ve got 2/3rds of the kitchen floor done. (Yes, it was trashed.) I also soaked and filled a litter box and scooped litter boxes. I need to take out the garbage and recycling. I’m planning to get up early to do more and drag the recycling to the curb.

I’m also planning to fill the fish tank and turn on the heater and filter. Then I’ll post and go to bed. I got a lot done tonight though. The music helped. My goal is to clean the kitchen and bathrooms this weekend. Oh, I forgot to mention that I got the hamper today too. I want to get it set up this weekend too.

Oh crap. The water bucket is in the bathroom with Oliver. I guess that I’ll fill the tank in the morning.

Did dishes. Fed the cats. I had a hard time keeping Bella from eating Lily’s food. And Bella and Oliver charged into Zara’s room. I have to hand it to Zara. Bella kind of got in Zara's face, and Zara went Wap! Wap! Wap! across Bella’s nose. That was gutsy.

More crap. Bella completely chewed up one of my shoes. And now she’s going into the cats’ litter box and digging. She scattered litter all over the floor. I’m feeling annoyed with her and Oliver. I need to get to bed and sleep it off.

days_unfolding: (Default)

Tried to get the WaterPic working but it’s not working. I’ll mess with it tomorrow. My pajamas were ice cold, so I ran the dryer until they were nice and toasty.

Woke up at 7:30 AM. The critters are restless. Step 1: took Bella out. Step 2: put the cat dishes on to soak. Step 3: fed cats. Step 4: Fed me. Step 5: fed Bella. Step 6: filled the cats’ water dish. Then Bella decided that she wanted to go out again. I gave her her purple ball toy, and it’s a hit!

Hmm. If I got the puppy, I’d need a gate for overnight in the warm bathroom. And a puppy bed. Hmm, I wonder if they’d have a gate at Costco? Speaking of Costco, it’s kind of cold to go today.

And speaking of cold, feeling it. I’m thinking of huddling under the bedroom blanket after lunch. My heater is good, but it’s not quite keeping up.

Saw an airplane. I was wondering if it was coming from the local airport. I usually take the bus to O’Hare because it’s cheaper.

Hmm. I’m wondering if I should bring out my cashmere coat, but it doesn’t have a hood, but it’s long.

Oliver is dozing off, and peace reigned throughout the land. Oops, I knocked over my soda and swore, and it woke him up.

Napped. It was nice and cozy warm. The puppy is still asleep.

I’m trying to avoid any news of the inauguration. At least now I don’t have Mom to call me to tell me what Trump did, but that’s kind of sad.

Jealousy….Bella thinks that the cats can’t settle on my lap. This time, surprisingly, it’s Oliver. He starts off nice but then bites. Snot :)

Someone knocked over one of my plants. Oliver, I’m looking at you, but it could be Bella. Oh for god’s sake. Bella munched on the pot. Luckily, I had another one.

Took a shower. Damn, that bathroom is cold. Got the WaterPik working. Ugh, it feels too cold to do anything. I’d break out the electric blanket, but with Bella’s chewing habit, probably not a good idea.

I decided to cuddle under the blanket in the bedroom. Bella approves. It’s supposed to be cold through tomorrow and then warm up to more usual temperatures. Ooh, standing on the heat vent is nice.

Zara was very happy that I’m in the library room and is being cuddly. She misses me! I need to spend more time in here.

Had a good piano lesson. Zara showed up and my teacher took a picture of her :)

Ate dinner. Ouch, my left wrist is hurting. Did I do something wacky to it playing piano?

I have a lot of work to do picking up the stuff that Bella shredded. But I think that I’ll do it in the morning.

I was thinking that Bella was jerking my chain because I’ll take her out if she goes into the bathroom and whines. But she did need to pee. I’m reversing the morning routine. Bella is fed and so am I. I’m working on the cats.

I keep calling Lily “Bella”. She could be a Bella. She’s a very pretty little cat.

Everyone’s fed. Scooped litter boxes. Soaked Zara’s box. I’m getting a headache. Figured out how the shower works in the warm bathroom. Took meds.

Oliver was licking out one of the cat food cans. It fell in Lily’s dish. Bella swooped in and grabbed the can. I just about died laughing.

Now I’ll post and go to bed.

days_unfolding: (Default)

Woke up at 7:30 AM. It’s a dark and gloomy day. Showered and put on fresh pajamas as a compromise for this probably short day. The new pajamas are very cozy.

Quiet at work. I'm discussing aquariums, dogs, and cats with my friend/colleague.

Yeah, we'll be out at 2.

Hmm, I'm looking at some magnetic cord clips on Amazon. I still need to get the cords on my bedside table organized.

Yay, I'm on vacation! Nap time! I’m actually not that sleepy, so I got up. I got the lockbox set up and put on my back door. (I don’t usually come in that way, but it might change when I have the garage built.)

I got the aquarium vacuumed out and washed, but I need an algae scraper to get some algae off. I have one on order, but I need one now because I want to get the fish tank upstairs. Meijer has one. They also were having a sale in which if you spent $50, you get $10 off, so I bought a ton of cat litter as well (plus I needed a large enough order for delivery). It will get used.

I decided to clean out the refrigerator, which was sorely needed. I got a big garbage bag of stuff to throw out. I couldn’t find the salmon for the salmon chowder, so I ordered some from Walmart along with extra cat food. I forgot that I have a bottle of mimosa, so I might drink it for New Year’s Eve. Or not because I’ve had it for a long time. Okay, I’ve got the algae scraper, but now I’m in the middle of cleaning the fridge. Got the salmon. I can make Salmon Chowder tomorrow. The fridge is cleaned out and restocked and hey, there’s room in there. I’m taking a break, and then I’ll sweep the floor by the refrigerator and get the garbage out and do dishes.

I’m running out of steam though, so I might save finishing the aquarium until tomorrow morning.

I’m going to try a new cat litter made out of wood shavings. We’ll see how the girls like it. It’s more sustainable, biodegradable, and supposedly smells nice. (Yes, I know to add it to the old litter over time.)

Okay, I'm officially wiped out. Time to feed the girls, change back into my pajamas, and go to bed.

Aquarium!

I’m lounging in cozy purple pajamas. They’re warm. And cute.

Got up at 7 AM. Fed the cats and myself. Napped. Zara is still asleep, and Mimi is hanging out on the heat vent. I’m feeling like going back to sleep, but I should get up and get things done.

Had lunch. I need more soda, so I should submit a grocery order.

Tonight is the Solstice thing at Allerton, but I don’t think that I’m going to go. It would be better to get stuff done around here.

Mimi is looooonely. I'm at the computer, and she hopped on my lap. Submitted a grocery order.

A friend recommended Ruby’s Rescue and Retreat for a dog. I found one that I like. (She’s a schnauzer, and I love fuzzy dogs.) I’m trying to get personal references together. Done and applied and the dog was already adopted. Sigh.

I have a weird thing in that I have to start my shower on a quarter hour. I don’t just jump in.

Mimi is lonely again. Now that she had her snuggles, she's curled up on the futon giving herself a bath.

Got myself together. I have enough money for the fish tank, so I guess that I’ll hang out until it’s time to go.

I now have a (used, but new to me) 20-gallon fish tank. The guy had water in it, so I could see that it did not leak, but then I had to stand around while he emptied it. We got it in my car, and now it’s inside the house. The tank needs scrubbing, so I need to find out with what I can scrub it.

I bought a reflective beanie, thinking that I will get a dog eventually and will be taking the dog for walks. A reflective collar for the dog is not a bad idea too.

I spent a pot of money on the aquarium-to-be. (Aquariums are an expensive hobby.) I wanted a heater that shuts off if it overheats, which the one that I have doesn't. And a vacuum for water changes. And an automatic fish feeder for vacations.(I might use it all the time because the fish can't get in my face like Zara and Mimi do.) And some driftwood, rocks, aquatic plants, aquatic dirt, and sand. Did I say that aquariums are an expensive hobby? I found some instructions on cleaning aquariums on Chewy. I need to get some vinegar to clean the outside of the aquarium. I ordered an algae scraper. Here's a question: I want the aquarium heater and lights to be plugged into a UPS in case the power goes out. Do I dare get a used one or is that a bad idea? I also want to put the lights on a timer. Oh, never mind, I bought a new one.

Zara’s in her happy place, snuggled up right next to me. Aww.

I’m not having a lot of luck in getting a used TV for upstairs, so I’m looking at small, cheap new ones. Best Buy has one that I’m interested in ($59). Okay, ordered.

Well, I was going to take a nap, but I have a grocery store order coming at 8, and it’s 23F/-5C out now, and I have soda in the order, so maybe not. I’ll print off some music and practice piano.

I've reached a new height in Cat Mom-dom or geek-dom: I was able to add paper to my printer with Mimi on my lap!

I’ve got my aquarium book, so once the Walmart order gets here (done), I’ll get into my pajamas and read.

Applied for another dog. We'll see what happens.

days_unfolding: (Default)

Overslept a little but made it into the shower. Got the recycling out. I'm so sleepy. Scrambled at lunchtime to put makeup on because I needed to be on camera for a meeting. (I'll have to do so tomorrow too.)

Mimi is giving me the cat pep talk (“Get your shit together and feed me.”)

I’m having IBS symptoms. Not a fun day.

I found a Panama Canal cruise in 2026 that I like. It starts from Panama, transits the Canal, and then goes to the "ABC" islands (Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao). It ends in Miami, which I'd also like to see. Maybe I should book it. Oh, apparently I didn't check the singles rate, and it's going to be too expensive. Maybe I do need to take Celebrity again. Sigh. It is much more reasonable. I'm also looking at Holland America. Oh wow. Holland America has a reduced fare one for March of next year. It's quite reasonable. It also stops in Puerto Vallarta, which I'd like to see. I'd have to skip the St. Lucia trip though. There also is a Bermuda cruise in 2026. It ends in San Juan, so I'd get a chance to see what I missed there. But do I want to book two cruises in one year?

Maybe next year I should go to St. Lucia and Italy? (No, see above.) I asked the St. Lucia guide if there would be time to go shopping in Castries (I think that there is a large market there), and she said, "Yes, there is free time". So I just need to decide whether to book it or not. Hmm. I'm looking at flights to St. Lucia and they have either short connections or very long connections. Chicago to St. Lucia is not a popular route for the airlines :) I’ll sleep on deciding but I think that I’m going to do it.

Okay, now I'm thinking: 2025: Panama Canal cruise and Italy (Amalfi Coast). 2026: St. Lucia and Italy (The Lake District). Or do I want to go to Paris in 2026?

Urgh. I need to get my Christmas cards out.

Some serious snow is coming down. Okay, it stopped with some accumulation, but not enough to have to dig out. Good. I have some errands to run, but I think that I will wait until daylight tomorrow.

I received a really cool-looking and cozy set of pajamas (you could wear them with people over). I can't link to it because it seems to have been taken down off the Web site. Here they are.

pajamas.jpg

I also received a ton of my new diet cookbooks. I just realized that I don't have tape flags to mark recipes, but I have some Post-It notes. Well, I just found tape flags. There are some interesting recipes. I'm kind of looking forward to cooking and "eating clean". There are some dessert-types of food too, such as chia pudding and rice pudding and yogurt with toppings. And the recipes that I've looked at so far emphasize protein. (It's Prevention's 28-Day Get Lean Diet for Women Over 40. The Skinny Taste Cookbook looks less interesting. Oh well, I can sell any cookbooks that I'm not thrilled with.)

I have to go get cash so that I can buy things off of Facebook Marketplace.

Hmm. I didn’t find a sparkly top for caroling, but I found a black top with gold, blue, and purple splotches plus a black velvet blazer that I would wear with black pants. It’ll do.

Lay down and dozed for a few minutes, then woke up. I need to practice piano and work on the kitchen. Now I’m thinking eat something, practice piano, go to bed, and get up early to clean.

days_unfolding: (Default)

I’m looking at LGBTQ organizations to which to donate because the next four years are going to be hell.

Does anyone have a favorite discount or price-tracking Web site or extension? I have PayPal Honey, Capital One Shopping and CamelCamelCamel. And Rakuten for cash back. And eBay and Mercari to buy used things.

Eeep. 15 days until Christmas? Good thing that I don't have presents to buy, although I was going to donate some items to a local children's home. Need to look into it fast. The presents are due by the 13th, so I can't buy anything from Amazon, only Walmart. I'll go shopping at Walmart on Thursday and drop the gifts off at lunchtime on Friday. I should try Meijer too. Duh. I can have the items delivered to me (ordered)! That'll save a trip!

I have a boatload of things to do today. I need to make up some time at work. I need to practice piano and have my lesson. I need to get the garbage and recycling out and clean up the kitchen so that I can get someone in to look at the garbage disposal. And I have Italian tomorrow morning, so I should look over my notes.

And I want to text the house cleaner/organizer about some sessions. Done. She’ll come clean a week from tomorrow and we’re discussing the organizing. She’ll start the organizing after cleaning and will finish on Friday.

Had my piano lesson. It went well. I really like my teacher and I learn a lot from her.

Got the garbage out and a lot of the recycling, but I’ll need to finish the recycling tomorrow and clean the kitchen. Now I need to sit, so now I’ll work (done--it's funny how adept I've gotten at working with Mimi on my lap!)

Somewhere along the line, I need to find "something festive" to wear when we go caroling. Though caroling is a misnomer; we're doing some of the same songs as we did at the concert. I think that I have a sparkly top somewhere. If not, I have the purple dresses.

Now I need to do dishes and get to bed to get up early for Italian. Though I need to figure out what to talk about tomorrow (done).

Tired Day

I know what I was going to say. I want a pair of night vision glasses, which reduce the glare, before I go back to Michigan.

Overslept this morning. Sigh. I need to get to bed earlier.

The answer on my credit card is that they put a hold on the account until December 4th. Suckage.

Ack! I spent an hour on hold at a doctor's office, only to be told that they are experiencing system problems and "please try again later".

I've been seeing flakes of dry skin on the inside of my clothes, so I've started applying lotion after my shower. Gold Bond is quite good. But I can't get lotion on my back. I looked on Amazon, and they have a lotion applier for your back. so I wishlisted it. The lotion seems to be helping.

We were let out early at work for the holiday, so I’m going to take a nap with Zara. It’s a dark and rainy day. Mimi is asleep upstairs. Overslept my nap. I’m still kind of groggy. Mimi wants to be fed. Fed the cats and myself.

Hmm. I saw a gorgeous piano on Facebook Marketplace. It's not a player piano, but it's beautiful.

It’s almost 8:00 PM. I’m thinking of going back to bed soon and getting up early to do stuff. I don’t need to get the recycling out because tomorrow is Thanksgiving and they won’t pick it up. (I do want to get it into the bins tomorrow though.)

I'm going to run out of caffeinated soda before I have more money. I checked and I have some coffee that I can make in my mom's coffee maker, but I don't have filters. I have a little money so I'll pick some up. They cost $1.86 at Walmart. Yay.

Mimi wants lap time. NEOOOOW!

I am going to go back to bed and get up early to do stuff. The Thanksgiving dinner that I'm going to is from 4 to 6 PM, so I'll have time to get stuff done. I decided to wear my nice blue sweater with a blue top and jeans to the dinner. I thought that I'd volunteer to help them clean up.

days_unfolding: (Default)

Yep, a light dusting of snow. I pulled out my down jacket, and it's warm, but I need to get my gloves out of the car.

Started to get the recycling out, but the bins were full. I rolled them to the curb. Wanted to get the dahlias in, but I couldn't find the plant clippers, which I need to cut the plants down before I bring them in. My pet sitter moved them. Sigh.

I'm tired, and it's going to be a very busy day.

I've started of thinking of things to do in retirement. I'll wait until then to pick up guitar lessons again, and keep learning singing and piano and languages. And I'll write. And write songs. And garden. And travel (last minute cruises? I found a South American cruise that's really cheap!) And nap. I'm looking forward to it. I'm not sure when I went from "What will I do in retirement?" to "I'm looking forward to retirement". (Hmm, I should do most of my Road Scholar trips pre-retirement because they're more expensive.)

The webinar that I was hosting went well. I’m learning new skills!

Put the registration sticker on my car. Brought the dahlias down into the basement. Pulled out some leather gloves. I can’t find my wool gloves, but they are cheap to buy.

It’s snowing again. Note to self: turn off the outside water. How’d it get to be almost December? Another note to self: replace the windshield wipers on Mom’s car. And bring the cushions in from the porch chairs. I need a winter checklist.

Mimi is annoyed that I’m downstairs instead of upstairs with her on my lap.

I’m also wondering how I went from someone who was chronically late to getting places early consistently. (I’m at the doctor’s office cooling my heels.)

I want to read Cher’s book. It should be interesting.

Holy cow. The snow is blowing sideways.

I want a baguette and some olive oil.

Went to my doctor’s appointment. Nothing major of note. I liked the doctor this time (GYN doctor). It’s miserable out. (Well, there will be a time when I’ll think that’s warm—it’s around freezing—but the wind whipping the snow is miserable no matter what the temperature is.)

Had my therapy appointment. Nothing much to say about that either. I was talking about creating my own rituals for the holidays.

Zara thinks that the kitchen table is one of her perches. I give up :) This place is not so secretly run by cats.

There is going to be a holiday concert in December at the university, to which I want to go. Must buy a ticket.

My piano teacher rocks. I was setting up my mom’s laptop in the library room on top of my digital piano for my music lessons, and got mired in Windows updates, getting my Web cam set up, etc. And the lesson was an hour earlier than I thought. She said that she had a cancellation at 8:30 PM, so let her know if I got set up, which I did. Mom's laptop worked much better than the old laptop that I was using.

Another reason to keep the digital piano even if I get an acoustic one—if I move to a senior complex eventually, I can use headphones on my digital piano.

I was feeling tired after dinner and wondered if I was going to make it until the piano lesson. I started practicing and perked up a little, and perked up more during my lesson. Now I'm winding down a little. I think that I'll post and go to bed after I finish my lively conversation with Mimi.

I think that I have arthritis in both of my big toes. It's not too bad, but it reminded me to get more acetaminophen.

days_unfolding: (Default)

I got up in time for my Italian lesson. We did some listening exercises that were really hard. She also asked where I liked the culture on my cruise, and I said "Puerto Rico because the people are really nice".

Mimi is still being clingy. I had a nice nap with Zara. She comes trotting up when I lie down on the bed.

I found out how to get a brochure from Oceania Cruises, and they called me. Don't call me if you want to sell a cruise! I also requested a Cunard (QEII, Queen Mary, etc.) brochure. I also found a resort in Puerto Rico that's near the beach and Old San Juan. Expensive though.

I'd like to get icicle Christmas lights for my porch, but I don't have an outdoor outlet. I guess that I'll put lights in my windows then. And ask an electrician to put in an outdoor outlet. No, I found battery-operated lights on Amazon. Hmm. I want to put white lights around my windows, but most of them are 100 lights, and I need a smaller string.

There's a place that advertises on Facebook that has really cozy-looking pajamas. I might splurge for a pair or two for Christmas.

I've been feeling hungry earlier. I just realized that's because of the time change to the cruise. Plus having lots of food at my disposal. Hmm, I have enough money to get a pizza for dinner. Although I really didn't like the way that I looked on the cruise and need to lose weight.

I'm looking forward to the long weekend next week to get stuff done around here. I'm working in the first half of the week. (I drained my vacation days and need to build them up again.)

I want the Skinny Taste Fast and Slow cookbook.

I'm so tired of plowing through my email from when I was gone at work.

Perkins is offering Thanksgiving dinner. I might go there next week.

The pizza was delicious.

We now have tons of cat food (very important!) I also bought a cheaper electric razor because I'm tired of replacing my more expensive one. We'll see how it works.

Got the garbage out. My pet sitter threw out stuff that I needed. Sigh. She keeps on rearranging my stuff. She said that she’s OCD and needs to organize stuff, but she’d understand if I want another pet sitter. I don’t know. She’s really expensive too. I’m planning on getting the place more organized next week and over winter break.

Snuggled with Zara. I’m going to take a nap. Couldn’t sleep. I think that I’ll transfer my coats to the closet in my bedroom. Most of my hanging clothes are in the larger closet in the library room.

Got my bedside lamp set up, but I need an extension cord for it.

bedside_lamp.jpg

Hmm, maybe I could also plug my phone charger into it too. I can’t find my scarf hanger, so I ordered one.

I think that I’ll feed the cats and go to bed soon. I need to figure out what to do with my two carry-on bags. I only need one. And I should repot the trees this weekend because my pots are in my bedroom.

Oh, and I need to throw another load in the wash.

days_unfolding: (Default)

Overslept, so I’m not going to make it to my shore excursion. That’s okay; I’ll spend time at the pool. I think that next time, I won’t sign up for shore excursions every day. Also, part of the problem is that the time zone is two hours earlier from Central Time. And it was raining, which wouldn't be great for a beach day.

There are some interesting events at the Fitness Center and Spa. But now, it’s nap time again. The guy who wanted to clean my stateroom knocked again and asked when he could clean my stateroom. I said "12:30," but couldn't really fall back asleep. I left at 12:15 for lunch. After lunch, I checked out the shops, and there is one shop that says that it has port-of-call t-shirts, which is what I'm looking for. But the shop was closed; apparently it is only open during the evening. I'll go back.

The room is immaculate now.

I did take a dip in the pool. It’s a salt-water pool, and something in it makes my eyes burn, so I departed. I now have swum in water over my head though. I didn’t take a picture of the pool because I wouldn’t be thrilled if someone took a picture of me in a wet swimsuit.

The pool was full of guys holding their (alcoholic) drinks in their hand. I feel a little like I’m on a cruise with a bunch of aging frat boys.

I'm eyeing cruises with Azamara, which spends more days at each port of call. They have an African cruise, which probably would be spectacular, but oh, the jet lag. I'm looking at their Panama Canal cruise. I do want to go to Bermuda, though, which probably would have to be with Celebrity. I'd like a cruise line with a less party atmosphere.

The cruise leaves an hour after when they say that it's going to leave. LOL. I guess that it makes for fewer people missing the departure.

I went to the shops and looked at t-shirts. I liked one that said, "You float my boat" with a picture of a cruise ship, but you would need to wear it untucked to see all of it. Plus who knows how much it costs. I looked at a Celebrity Cruises hoodie on clearance, but the clearance price was $47! No.

I'm having dizzy spells, so I need to drink some water and get to bed early. I want to get up early for my tour of St. Lucia!

Worn Out!

Placed a Walmart order for delivery. One less errand. The nylons that I ordered from Amazon were too dark, so I added some to the Walmart order. After debating back and forth, I bought some Obsession perfume to wear on the trip.

I got my sandals and nail polish. They look good.

I’m communicating with the swimsuit people. Apparently, I didn’t get a receipt for the order, just the PayPal receipt.

Got my Walmart order.

I’m thinking of skipping swimming today because I have a boatload of stuff to do. I need to clean the house! And drop off my returns.

Bought a AirTag to put in my luggage.

Reading articles about the election and getting depressed. They emphasized that we don’t know what will happen.

I think that I’ll take a shower. I need to take some stuff from the living room to the storage shed outside. I have a singing lesson at 4.

I have a cream-colored polyester blazer that looks like satin. I’m trying to decide whether to bring it on the cruise. It has long sleeves though. Puerto Rico is currently in the 80s at the end of the day. Now I’m thinking a blue-and-white top and navy jeans. I did order an iron from Walmart though.

I tried on the Obsession perfume. It’s kind of Far East amber and patchouli. I like it. A little goes a long way though.

I’m thinking of retiring sooner rather than later. It would be good, though, to wait for Medicare. I don’t know. I’m just tired. I’m just feeling like the last year wore me out.

I had my usual helpful singing lesson. I asked her what I could do to practice while I’m gone, and she suggested listening to recordings of the music on headphones. That would help; the more familiar I am with the music, the better. I’ll also make copies of the music to bring with.

I have a wrap dress that I want to try for the day that we get on the ship. It might be too small though. I had a blue-and-purple dress that I would like to wear, but I’m not sure where it is. Maybe I’ll check Ross out. They have some nice dresses sometimes. No, I don’t have enough money to go to Ross right now.

Oh ack, it's raining. It's supposed to stop at 7:00 PM though, so maybe I'll wait to go out. I was thinking of going out on Tuesday instead, but it's raining then too. Heavier rain, but it's supposed to stop at night.

The Harris campaign wants me to knock on doors in Wisconsin and Michigan. Not. Happening. I need to work.

Well, crud. Kohl’s wouldn’t take the Land’s End return and said that I needed a QR code. (They did take the Amazon return.) I need to investigate that. I could try to return it tomorrow before rehearsal. I can figure it out. Then I think that I want to go to bed and get up early to clean. I’m tired and feeling the time change. I might be starting on Seasonal Affective Disorder too because it was gloomy today.

Okay, I need to return the Land's End items to Staples tomorrow with a QR code.

days_unfolding: (Default)

Woke up at 9 AM. Did my morning routine and napped.

I rescheduled my RSV vaccine because I couldn’t find a sleeveless shirt. That gives me a couple more days to find one. Realized that if I’m not getting my vaccine, I have time to go to the post office, so I grabbed my ThredUp return.

Now I’m at Urgent Care. It’s not where I thought it was going to be at all. They weren’t able to get the wax out of my ear, and said to use Debrox at home.

Stopped at Walgreens to get some packing tape and cosmetics. Also bought a protein bar because I was hungry. Ran to the post office. I was kicking myself because I didn’t have the items to return at Kohl’s, but this gives me time to have lunch and get the Halloween decorations down.

I was looking for the jacket that I inherited from my aunt. I haven’t found it yet. I found a bunch of pairs of jeans that are too big for me though.

Had my songwriting class. He wants me to do the work next week, so I need to come up with something.

Had dinner and fed the cats. Now I’m going to take a nap. Overslept, so I’m not going to make it to Kohl’s. I don’t want to go to Meijer right now. It’s dark and cold out.

Gathered up pairs of size 18 jeans (two sizes up) to donate, but one of the pairs smelled funny, so they’re in the wash.

The cats wanted to be fed (done). I had two pairs of eyes staring at me.

Emailed the company from which I ordered swimsuits. I haven't heard anything from them.

days_unfolding: (Default)

Hammered. Overslept work a little. Overslept my lunchtime nap too. (Luckily, I said that I was taking a long lunch.) I didn't get my Halloween stuff up, so I'll do it at 5 PM.

I dreamed about the Canadian guy that I liked last night. He’s on Facebook, and I would like to contact him, but I want to wait until I lose weight. (Eating Halloween candy doesn’t help!)

The girls polished off their food this morning. Yay. And Zara is looking for more food! And Mimi wanted some dry food.

I’ve decided to go to Goodwill, Ross, and TJ Maxx on Friday night to look for another dress for the trip. Oh, and I need to mail my returns of the clothes. I might have to do that on Saturday.

Mimi was on my lap, and she gave me an accusing look when I dumped her off to pick up my headphones that had fallen on the floor. Just as well, because I have a meeting soon that I'm leading. She is sneaky too. I was concentrating on some work stuff, and she jumped on my lap, and I didn't even notice until I looked at her! I told her her new name is Sill E. Cat.

The BetterUp people said that I lost the two pre-paid sessions when I canceled, but that they would give me a credit so that I can have a session. Unfortunately, my life coach isn't available until Wednesday, so I guess that I'll work with her on my final list before going on the trip. I could also work on a plan for working on the house after I get back.

There is something that I wanted to get at Meijer, but I can't remember what it is. Also, I need to pick up cat litter tomorrow while I'm out. And some extra cat food. Oh, and I need to go to Aldi this weekend because my therapist said that they have some good Keto munchies. I need something for my hotel/ship room.

Oh, I forgot to mention yesterday that my therapist asked me what I can do to decrease stress. She mentioned chair yoga. And I think that I want to take a warm bath this weekend. I want to do a pedicure and a facial as well. I bought a really cool pair of sandals on Amazon yesterday because the ones that I have didn't fit. I want my feet to look good! I think that I'll do a manicure right before I go with clear polish only. Then I'll use colored polish on the ship.

I want to make an appointment at Urgent Care to get the ear wax cleaned out of my ears. I want an appointment for Saturday or Sunday, but they let me make an appointment for tomorrow only. I'll try again tomorrow.

Oops, just remembered to order some bug spray wipes.

Got my Halloween decorations up (such as they are). I like the window clings. I might need to buy more next year because I had to use tape on some of them. I just got my first Trick-or-Treaters just now. How exciting!

halloween_door.jpg

Oops, this flipped over!

spooky.jpg

I’ve been doing chores downstairs in order to hear Trick-or-Treaters at the door. (I really need to get a doorbell installed.) I tidied up the kitchen and watered the plants. Now I’ll start on the clothes in the laundry area after resting my back. I’m going to turn the porch light off at 9 PM and go upstairs.

Speaking of which, I was investigating breast reduction surgery because my back aches when I bend over or walk. However, it seems that my breasts aren’t large enough for insurance to pay for it, and it’s expensive without it. Losing weight would help though.

Hmm. I should do 1SE in November because of the trip. (The only time that I remember to do it is when I’m taking a trip.) Maybe I’ll take a picture of my lawn full of leaves tomorrow. I’m leaving them there to feed the lawn over the winter.

Oh! I was working on my clothes and discovered that I still had the pretty purple dresses that I bought from Ross! I’ll try them on, but they should fit. In that case, I’ll return both evening gowns from ThredUp and take the purple ones on the trip. Oh, I’m so happy! I think that I'll wear them with my blue pumps because they don't look bad and they are MUCH more comfortable than my black ones.

purple_dress1.jpg purple_dress2.jpg

I turned the porch light off. I had a sum total of two sets of Trick-or-Treaters. And lots of candy left over. I’m not surprised because there aren’t a lot of kids that live in the neighborhood. Next year, buy less candy :)

Worked for a while to make up my time.

I can return my Land's End clothes at Kohl's. I'll do that tomorrow. I'll need to go to the post office for the ThredUp returns.

Mimi is on my lap and making it hard for me to package up the returns, so I'll post first. Cats rule; humans drool :)

days_unfolding: (Default)

Overslept but made it to Italian. My Italian is definitely rusty. (We missed a couple of lessons.) I told her about the vet visits, and she felt sorry for the cats.

I'd like a Pilea Chinese Money Plant. They're safe for cats. I should wait until I get back to order it though. And it might be too late to mail it?

Mimi is picking at her wet food but ate the dry food. I guess that's okay. I'm going to try her on the Hills dry food for senior cats because she doesn't need to lose weight.

Got my Jenny Craig food and put it away.

The real estate guy for Mom's house is waiting on some signatures to list Mom's house for sale. He showed me a preview of the listing, and it looks good. I suggested mentioning the built-in lawn sprinklers though.

I got on the waitlist for Prolific, which [personal profile] bill_schubert mentioned. It might help pay for my Amazon addiction. Oh! I'm off the waitlist! Speaking of Amazon, I was looking at a cookbook holder because I have a bunch of diet cookbooks that I want. I was going to buy spiral-bound when available, but they are very expensive, and I could get cheaper versions of the cookbooks with a holder.

I was looking at some essential oils made by a company affiliated with Disney. (I'm subscribed to a Disney group on Facebook.) The company has a way expensive diffuser, so I was looking at some cheaper options on eBay. I like how the house smells when the cleaner is here.

Booked my drinks and WiFi packages for the cruise. Dang, they're expensive. They must make their money on the packages and extras. I checked in to the cruise. I'll be boarding at 3:30 PM, so I guess that I'll go to the cruise terminal and have lunch and kill a couple of hours. Looked at the cruise schedule. Wow, there's a lot to do aboard ship, though a lot of them are selling something. Do I want to do Karaoke? I’ve been exploring their app and found out when breakfast is. Because I’m doing shore excursions, I’ll mostly be having breakfasts and dinners. You also can get a complementary Continental Breakfast in your room.

Hmm. Celebrity has a Japan cruise that looks interesting. And it’s not horribly expensive, although airfare will add a lot.

Fed the catlings. They’re sort of eating and sort of picking at the food. I’m keeping an eye on them. I don’t really want to go back to the vet yet again. Got the garbage out.

Went to Walmart. They didn't have any mums. I bought a “Happy Halloween” window cling, the word “Spooky” to put in a window, and some crime scene tape with skulls on it. And candy, which I had to sample :) That’s it for this year. I might get more ambitious next year.

Tried on the evening gowns. The one that was smaller fit me (yay!), but it's not terribly flattering.

evening_gown.jpg

I'm looking at another dress online. I also tried on the Land's End long underwear and snow pants and they fit (the smaller long underwear and larger snow pants). Now I just need to get some alpaca socks.

I need to check whether I have sunscreen and go to bed. I need to get up early to practice piano. It's been a quite a week.

days_unfolding: (Default)

Checked out the room rates at Disney's Polynesian Resort, and holy cow, that's expensive. Port Orleans is more my speed. Or the Swan, but it fills up WAY in advance. Maybe whenever I get to Disney, I can at least visit a restaurant at the Poly.

Overslept. I’ll take my shower at lunch (done).

Mimi threw up again, so I might need to bring her to the vet.

I found a pair of green jeans, which look great with my "undersea" hoodie. I've gotten some nice clothes.

Talked to the vet (the one whom I usually go to). We agreed that Zara doesn't need to come, which will make her happy, but I'm bringing in Mimi during the same time slot because Mimi has been throwing up. Mimi is a terror about getting into the carrier, so I need all the luck that I can get. Got her in the carrier. They checked her out and gave her an antinausea shot and some pills to give her. I'm supposed to let them know if she still is nauseous despite the shot and pills.

I received my evening gowns from ThredUp and, I think, one or more of the swimsuits. Tomorrow is try on day around here.

Now Zara isn’t eating again. Sigh. Someone ate her food while I was at rehearsal though. She's hanging out in the kitchen.

Went to choir rehearsal. It went well.

Mimi ate some of her wet food. Then I gave her dry food, and she ate some of that. Then she ate more wet food, but didn't finish it. Zara ate most of her food.

Booked the bus to and from O'Hare Airport. However, I'll miss the last bus on the way back, so I booked a hotel for overnight in Chicago. I chose one that has an airport shuttle, but I need to find out how to contact them to pick me up. Changed my Barbados tour due to my broken toe. Emailed a person about the San Juan tour, and they said that there was a walk of three to four blocks, but I could wait in a coffee shop, so I booked it. Ordered some makeup for my trip.

Studied Italian. I have Italian tomorrow morning, although I'm wondering about the time because Europe has ended Daylight Savings Time, but we'll end it this coming weekend.

days_unfolding: (Default)

I need to look for the waterproof pouch for my cell phone and order a new one if I can't find it.

Someone (Zara?) polished off the baby food. No, it was Mimi. She’s been eating the baby food. I’m going to assume that she’s okay, just off her feed. Zara won’t eat anything, so I’ll bring her in. I’m mulling what to do on the probably long wait, so I think that I’ll grab an Italian book.

I didn’t find the waterproof pouch, but found my dress sandals. Now I found the waterproof pouch, so I canceled my Amazon order.

I brought both girls to the emergency vet. Zara was way too easy to get into the carrier. Mimi led me on quite a chase, so she can’t be feeling too badly. They’ve been through triage—Zara was her usual fractious self, and Mimi liked the fact that they petted her—and now we wait.

The vet checked them over. They want to run blood tests on the both of them. (I figured that they would.) They said that Zara is “spicy,” and they probably will have to sedate her. Then they said Mimi was hissing, which shocked me because Mimi is usually pretty easy. So they might need to sedate her too. They did an ultrasound and didn’t see anything concerning. They said that it would be another couple of hours. I told them that I hadn’t eaten dinner, so they told me to go home and they’ll call me. So I did.

I got my Land’s End order with the snow pants and long underwear. That was fast. I need to try them on because I bought two different sizes because I didn’t know which would fit.

Filled out my replacement ballot. Brought down the suitcase and started packing for the cruise. I can’t find my white jeans that I want to take with me. I’m going to have to sort my clothes and put them away.

It had been four hours and I hadn’t heard anything from the vet, so I went back. Apparently, the girls’ blood work is done, and they need to just write up their discharge papers. The girls' blood work was good. Mimi's was completely normal, and Zara's was only a little elevated.

I had gotten checked out by a friendly big white dog. The dog was still waiting when I got back. I said , “Hi,” to him or her again. I’d like a dog like that.

We're back home. Mimi promptly chowed down. Zara is looking interested in food. We'll see. I really want to crash. I'm going to skip swimming tomorrow and collapse.
