I read an article about where to retire if you don’t have savings, which isn’t me, but I’d like to save money, and it listed Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. It’s a very pretty area, and I saw some nice townhomes for sale. Hmm. No health care nearby though, but there is in Hot Springs and Little Rock, and you can hire a car to get there and to go to the airport. It’s a 55+ community with a pool and clubs and other amenities. And a bunch of lakes. There’s a townhouse with a deck overlooking a stream in the forest. If I was free, I’d grab it.

From the web:

Hot Springs Village spans 26,000 acres of the Ouachita Mountain foothills. The largest private, gated community in North America boasts amenities for both adventure and leisure including pickle ball courts, tennis center, and 9 year-round, championship golf courses. Lake-life is also delightful with 11 lakes and 2 beaches for swimming, boating, skiing, kayaking, and relaxing! The Coronado Fitness Center, spa, indoor pool, and 30 miles of scenic hiking and biking nature trails are other HSV “hot” spots. Multiple dining, churches, and over 200 active organizations are perfect for social opportunities. The HSV Police, Fire, and EMT Departments along with two manned security gates provide residents peace of mind! HSV is centrally located and only a 20 minute drive to historic Hot Springs, an hour to Little Rock, and a day trip to many surrounding parks and attractions! Hot Springs Village offers a large variety of home styles. New construction and custom designed home packages are also available– all including your choice of lake or golf front, mountain view, or just nestled in the woods. Come enjoy the affordable HSV good life; the longer you stay, the more you’re going to love us!

Woke up a little after 7 AM. Oliver is dozing on my lap. It’s 30F/-1C out and the crazy dogs don’t want to come in. Gracie finally came in at 11. Bella wanted to stay out, but I grabbed her collar, and she came in.

Looked into golfing lessons, and damn, they are expensive. I found a set of petite women’s golf clubs on Facebook Marketplace. I’ve wanted to learn golf for a long time. I need to find a partner for pickleball lessons too.

Udemy has a bunch of courses that interest me (including pickleball and golf). I need to subscribe to it and take a bunch of courses.

I signed up for the book sale for Books for Prisoners.

Lily is in the cat bed on my desk.

My hands are twinging and I’m getting a headache. Oh, the joys of computer use/getting older/??? I’m not going to make it to choir. I’m feeling really shaky.

Couldn’t sleep. I think that I’ll get up and get ready for bed soon. I should be able to sleep with the lights out.

The dogs are outside. Submitted a grocery order. I’ll watch The Pitt and get the dogs in and get ready for bed.

I was sitting here singing, and Mimi started meowing back to me and jumped on my lap. Zara likes it when I sing or play piano. So two thumbs up (paws up?) from the critics. They hate my guitar though.

I've decided that I like Noom. It's making me more conscious of my eating. I like it better than low carb because the foods aren't restrictive. I think that I could do this for a while. Though I am hungry a lot of the time. I've discovered that yogurt is a good filling snack.

Found a rain jacket that I'd like to get, but need to wait until after my trip.

I read an article about how playing golf might lengthen your life. It's something that I've always wanted to learn (and, in fact, I have some golf clubs that I bought at a garage sale). The U of I apparently has group classes, so maybe I'll take some when I move there. Heartland had a class, but I missed the registration deadline.

I'm trying to figure out my meals for Madison. (I'm trying to eat cheap.) I think that I want to get a pizza on the Friday night so that I can eat pizza for lunch the following day. (I'm saving Madison-related stuff on Pinterest.) Then I'll have biscuits and gravy the following night or for Sunday lunch. Hmm, maybe Chinese food instead of pizza? That should have leftovers. And it's healthier. Decisions, decisions.

I need to buy a Madison map.

Well, I frittered away the evening. I've got to stop doing that. I think that I'll go to sleep and reset tomorrow.

Woke up at 11 AM. Construction workers are fixing the road by my house, and making lots of noise, but I don't think that woke me up. Mimi slept with me at least part of the night.

Ordered dry cat food from Amazon. Trying to decide whether to get the book about The Villages or not. (I can't get it from Amazon.)

Zara came over to where I was sitting, put two of her paws on my shoulders, and loved me up. Awww.

I'm working on a grocery list. I want to make two tomato-basil quiches to use the fresh basil up before the plant dies in the cold. I should make meatballs to use up the Italian parsley too, but I don't think that I'll get both done this weekend.

Forgot to mention that I'd like to learn how to play tennis, but that isn't a really high priority right now. I'd also like to learn to play golf, but that's a more expensive hobby. I do have some woman's golf clubs that someone was selling on a garage sale site.

Overslept my nap. Cursed and vaulted out of bed. Made it to the credit union before it closed. (One advantage of small towns.) Got a new charger for my cell phone. I was looking at a closed store and thinking how depressing that was, when I went to Burger King--and it was closed permanently. Not surprised, but still....Backtracked to Hardee's and ate a ridiculous amount of food.

I was trying to get to Walmart in time to pick up Zara's prescription (the pharmacy closed at 8 PM, and it was 7), so I broke speed records at Dollar Tree and Aldi. Made it to the pharmacy in time. Shopped more leisurely at Walmart.

I'm determined to start tracking my expenses, so I got a small notebook with a pocket for receipts. I'm looking for a way to input my expenses into a spreadsheet or something like that. Maybe I should just use a spreadsheet so that I can customize it as I like.

I'm thinking that I should make my tuna casserole (although I'm not hungry after that huge Hardee's meal), but I need to sit a little.
