I’m in the stateroom with a cup of tea, waiting for the vet to open. I thought that they opened at 7AM, but it’s at 7:30. The tea is good. Love Earl Grey.

The pet sitter found Lily! I called the vet about Mimi and left a message. Now the pet sitter is saying “Don’t come back.” She’ll get Mimi to the vet. Talked to the vet and they said to bring her in.

Ye gods, I am tired.

Excellent French Toast for breakfast. I bought the Holland America jacket (it isn’t a hoodie) and it looks very nice (as well it should for what I paid for it). I also bought a plastic glass and metal water bottle.

I napped for a half-hour. Then I went to a burger and hot dog “stand” near one of the pools. The food was good, but I didn’t realize that it didn’t have a bun! I might try their hot dogs another day.

I’m trying to figure out what to do now. There is a library area mid-ship, and it might be a nice place to sit and read. Though I don’t know how thrilled the people there would be with my getting a phone call. Maybe I’ll read in my stateroom.

The sea is kind of choppy today, but I must be getting used to it. Walking in the cafeteria was kind of interesting.

Read a little. Dozed a little. My kind of day.

Connected with the vet after some phone issues. Mimi has a bad ear infection which *might* be causing her balance issues, so they are going to treat it. They’re also worried about a possible neurological issue, so if treating the ear infection doesn’t work, they want to transfer her to the U of I for them to take a look with their MRI machine.

Hmm. Something interesting. I’m not getting headaches on this cruise (although I bought some Tylenol just in case). Less time on a computer? Something else?

Crud. I didn’t bring my swim goggles. I have to limit my eyes’ time in the pool.

I’m debating going on the shore excursion tomorrow. I have no real interest in Cartagena. And I’m enjoying my laziness. The places that I really want to go to are later in the trip: Costa Rica, Puerto Vallarta…and of course, transiting the Panama Canal. I always wondered why people took those long trips with many days at sea. Now I get it. It’s like staying at a luxury resort.

Maybe I could go to the fitness center tomorrow. Though walking the track (where’s the track?) would be good too. There doesn’t appear to be a track.

My feet are now sandal-ready. The manicure/pedicure technician took a lot of time working on my feet, and they have never looked better. I need to have a pedicure periodically because I have trouble getting my toenails short enough. I also got a manicure because as long as I was there, I might as well. The only down side is that most of their nail polish was for gel manicures. I’ve tried to get a gel manicure off and no. That was a nightmare.

I thought that dinner was until 9 PM, but it was until 8. So I just ordered room service. They told me that my Coke Zero wasn't covered under the drinks package--Fine, fine, just give me the food. I get testy when I get hungry.

So now I wait (and post).

Woke up with my alarm and got dishes done before my shower. The power washing guy isn’t here, but it’s supposed to rain today. Okay, now he's here.

Had technical difficulties and was late to a meeting. Oh well.

The roofer guy came (while I was in my meeting with the life coach)! He said that the roof in the front part of the house and the garage needs to be replaced, which is more-or-less what I figured. He's working on an estimate. The power washing is almost done and the house looks great!

The life coach helped me figure out what I need to do for the Hawaii trip plus on the house. She said that I didn't give myself rewards enough, given that I'm getting so much done. I need to think about that.

I tried to nap over lunch, but couldn't sleep. Mimi wanted to lie on me, so we had difficulties. But I still couldn't sleep after she got off.

Talked to my weight-loss coach. She suggested drinking water with Crystal Light, which I'll try. I just submitted a grocery order with Crystal Light in it.

I bought myself a wedding ring! One of my solo travel sites recommended wearing a wedding ring when women travel solo, which is not a bad idea. But I wanted something pretty, so I found a rose gold one that wasn't too horribly expensive.

I've decided what to do right after work. My life coach suggested exercising, but I need some down time after work. I've decided to read after work both as a treat and also for self-improvement. I've loaded up on Kindle books and will read for an hour each day.

I’m setting up the new laptop. It’s small but mighty. I love it. Right now, it’s updating. Once my files are copied and the battery charged, I’m just going to pack the new laptop and continue to use the old one. Windows did not copy my files over, so I'm backing up my files on the old laptop and will port them over.

The Crystal Light is good. Note to self: ask the organizer where the Brita pitcher went. Found it.

I can't find my reef-safe suntan lotion, so I need to order more. Also couldn't find the waterproof housing for the GoPro, so I'm ordering a new one. I had a box of camera stuff that I can't find. I'll have to ask the organizer about it. Losing stuff after we "organize" kind of sucks, but I don't see a way around it.

I think that I have Semagic set up on the new laptop, so I'm going to test it with this post.

After my last post, I did half of my homework assignment, created some Spanish flash cards, and watched the last episode of The Crown. I don't know what I'm going to watch now. Had some snuggle time with Zara and Mimi. Stayed up late reading.

Woke up at 9:30, which was a little early, but decided to get up. Read part of The Economist during breakfast. I'm determined to finish it this week. (It's about 80 pages.)

Took a nap and overslept by an hour.

Found an excellent investing podcast called InvestED. In it, a hedge fund manager explains the principles of value investing in terms that his daughter, who isn't into investing, can understand. It's excellent, although it moves slow, but that actually is a good thing. I ordered their book from the library.

Cleaned the kitchen, including scrubbing the floor.

Threw myself together and ran to Aldi's to pick up some frozen stuff because I knew that I wouldn't have time to make Beef-a-roni with the veggie beef. Bought some extra stuff because I was hungry. Downed some garlic French bread pizza. Realized that I wouldn't have time for a walk.

Went to work for my online Spanish lesson. The first 15 minutes, I was unable to hear him and sometimes couldn't see him. Then it worked. He really kept my feet to the fire and kept me speaking Spanish even though I didn't know anything. He assigned a pile of homework too. So I think that it was good, although I want to e-mail the company about the system problems. I'm going to schedule a lesson for next week. I just bought the books that I'll need for the homework.

Got home with a couple of minutes to spare to talk to Mom. She's doing okay, except that she had some minor car trouble, and there's a baby squirrel in the house. I hope that she can catch the squirrel in the humane trap.

Homework awaits. And I'm hungry again.

It's 55 degrees F outside and 65 degrees in here. I do not want to turn the heat on. Last night, I was lying in bed under a blanket and freezing. I thought about grabbing my velour throw. I got up and checked the temperature, and it was 68, so I called myself a wimp and just used the blanket. I snuggled up to Mimi though.

Kitty Drama: Zara was on the back of a chair in the kitchen. She said Hello to me. Then she jumped onto the floor, and Mimi chased her out of the kitchen. Sigh.

I went looking for some sweats to wear to warm up and because I want to wear grubby clothes to clean. I found some sweat pants and a zippered jacket, but no sweatshirt. I need to take everything out of the wicker chest and see if I can find a sweatshirt. I used to have tons of sweats. I don't know where they've went. The jacket makes me warmer though.

I'm drinking coffee and reading The Economist. I want to get through it in a week. I could do it if I read around 12 pages a day.

Tried to nap, but couldn't fall asleep. I'm making lunch.

I've also started tracking my time. Somehow, I'm more efficient if I know that I'm being timed.

Didn't find a sweatshirt. Found some jeans that I didn't know I had though. Also found a shirt from the last high-tech job that I had. Was going to throw it out, but decided that would be a good top to clean in. I also found some more high-tech tops in better shape, so I might sell them on eBay. (People collect them, believe it or not.) Ordered a pair of sweatpants and a sweatshirt from Walmart for $11. Not too bad. I'm having them shipped to the store to avoid shipping costs.

Cleaned the kitchen and the bathroom. Made quiches. (I fumbled one of them and some of its insides came out, but I tried to fix it.) The cooking solved one problem--I'm boiling hot from running the oven and cooking on the stove. Then I made a tuna casserole.

I was looking up a startup that I used to work for. It was acquired by another company, which was acquired by another company....I think that there was 6 or 7 acquisitions to the end of the line. Amusing. Life in high tech.

The quiche that I made is as good as usual. I think that I'll have another piece after I talk to Mom. And I need to sample the tuna casserole. Burp :)

Had a long conversation with Mom. She's doing well. And hey, she turned on her heat before I did, so I win! :)

It's a quiet, rainy day. It's supposed to pour most of the afternoon.

I'm working on a new songlet, "I hear hissing," to the tune of "I feel pretty".  Though the girls have been okay today except for Zara smacking me when I grabbed her dishes.

British Airways had a major credit card breach. It doesn't affect me, but I remember in the early days of the Web, I was nervous about leaving my credit card number on Amazon. That probably was wise, but my credit card number is in a bunch of places on the Web now.

A book about stock investing said to invest in what you know about, which brought me up short because the two companies that I'm interested in, AMD and BlackBerry, are in areas that I don't know about. I printed off their annual reports though. I could ask Erik about AMD. I really want to invest in Casey's General Stores, which I do know about because one opened up here, and it's always busy, but I'm not sure what price would be good for it. It has a good P/E ratio. Need to do more research. I want to start reading The Economist again, but I've been downloading it, and it's been taking hours. It is large though.

Had some snuggle time with Mimi and Zara. I need to find a place to put the sheets that Zara has knocked down, but I don't have a lot of storage space. Sigh.

Napped. Still raining. I checked on the assignment for my Advanced Web Development class, and it is due at the same time as the one for my PHP class, so I went ahead and worked on it. I'm pretty happy with it, although I might or might not work on it later.

Watched another episode of The Crown. I don't know what I'm going to watch when I finish it.

The front desk worker was off sick, so I relieved my boss for lunch. Then I sorted through a bunch of junk because he wants to open up an area that we have closed. I made a mad dash up to Normal to drop off a library book. My job is never dull or repetitive. I like that.

I received my Java book that I bought, and I'm rather annoyed because someone opened the package. I hope that it was a mistake, and not someone trying to rip me off.

I had a taste for spaghetti and garlic bread, so I picked some up. It was good.

I'm kind of tired. I'm going to appease Harlee, who has been complaining (so what else is new?), get into pajamas, and do some reading. Along with the Java book that I bought, I checked out a Java book and a (good) book about cryptocurrency. Plus I have a book about creating a drop-ship business that I want to plow through. I might go to the coffeeshop tomorrow and read as well.

It's my weekend. I like three-day weeks!

Oh, and I'm appalled by the hurricane damage to Saint Martin/Sint Maarten. The place is on my bucket list, and looking at the pictures of the damage makes me want to cry. Here's hoping that Irma won't hit Florida too hard.
