The mower guy came around and cut my lawn, but I told him that I wouldn't have the money until tomorrow. I wish that he would give me more notice.

Apparently there will an electronics dropoff next week, so I'll be able to get rid of the busted monitor without paying for it.

Now I'm on vacation. Thank goodness. I spent the evening reading. Tomorrow I'll tackle stuff.

Tomorrow it's going to storm (intensely in the afternoon), but I need to get the cash for the mower guy and pick up my meds and vitamins at Walgreens.

I don't know what's with me today. I made a mistake at work and was catastrophizing instead of thinking of it rationally. (Actually, it turned out that it wasn't an error.) Then I realized that I hadn't taken my antidepressant meds this morning, and that wasn't helping, so I took them. I'm feeling kind of bummed so I hope that it helps. It seems to be helping.

Yippie! I'm getting Tuesday, June 1st off. Four-day weekend! I should get some rest and get some stuff done.

Another great voice class. We were working on relaxing our neck muscles. My tone was a lot better after the exercises. I'm glad that I'm learning some voice while I'm on hiatus from my private lessons. (My teacher doesn't mind my skipping lessons because she's currently moving to Hawaii.) Zara came over and bonked my hand while I was singing. She walked in front of the Web cam too.

I found some pasta shells with pesto sauce in the freezer, and they were pretty good. I'm glad that I found them because I didn't want to wait an hour to cook chicken breasts.

I've been sitting for quite a while reading stuff on my phone. I should go do something constructive. I started to make a pound cake, but stopped because it wouldn't have enough time to cool before I go to sleep. I just had a smoothie for dessert.

Mimi plopped herself on my lap when I was talking to Zara because she thought that I was calling her. It relaxed me though. I'm yawning and ready to crash.

Called the hospital back. I told them that I'm doing fine, and that my experience there was as good as something like that could be.

I lost my car key. I had put some books in the car and locked the door, and went back in the house to get my purse and soda. Sometime between the time that I locked the car and went back out to unlock it, the key went missing. I'm using a spare key, but that one doesn't stay on the fob, so I'm afraid of losing it. I am really stumped where the key went.

I've been feeding the girls a trial of a food called Smalls. I think that it might be too expensive for every day.  They seem to like it though.

It's a three-day weekend for me because I'm taking Sunday as a vacation day. Then we work Monday and Tuesday, and then we're off for break.

I was trying to look at stuff on my netbook, and Mimi kept on getting between me and the netbook. I finally gave up and gave Mimi my full attention, which is what she wanted. Diva :)

Harlee showed up in one of my dreams. Good to "see" my girl.

Work was busy, but I got a lot done. I still have to write up some notes from my meeting on Monday. I'll do that over the weekend.

And now I'm on vacation. I should be thrilled, but actually, I'm feeling kind of depressed. I don't know why. I'll probably get more excited when I get on the train to my mom's house.

It's the start of my weekend, and I'm taking Sunday off, so I'm off for three days. I have a dentist's appointment tomorrow, but it's at the relatively civilized hour of 1 PM.

I guess that I am going to see Star Wars this weekend. My boss wants all of us (the full-timers) to see it this weekend so we can discuss it on Monday.

My friend at work said that she'd drive me to the train station when I'm going to Chicago, so that's one issue off of my mind.

My dad is "surprised" that I want public transportation wherever I retire. He said that he and his wife will be driving "until age 90 or they kick the bucket, whichever comes first". Not I.

My mom is leaving for Chicago this weekend, and I hope that she'll stop if the drive gets to much for her. She has been kind of tired.

I'm feeling really cold even though I have a sweater on. I need to see what the wacky thermostat is doing. 66 degrees F. I just convinced it to turn the heat on.

Well, I've taken care of the catching up on my sleep part of my vacation.

Fed the ravening hordes, and am making pesto mac and cheese (from a box). I hope that it's good.

I'm going to a jazz concert tonight at the college with a friend. At first, she really wanted to go out to dinner, and I didn't want to spend the money, but said yes because she was insistent. But then she texted me yesterday, saying that she couldn't afford it. Works for me.

I want to stop at work before the concert to change my phone and e-mail messages saying that I'm on vacation, so I need to throw myself together soon.

Oh, I forgot to say that the temperature dropped today and was 39 degrees F. I can't complain though because it was warm for so long.

I kept my old Windows XP computer for travel. However, I tried using it in Chicago a couple of years ago, and it couldn't access the Web. So I took my 17-inch laptop to California with me last year, which led to me screwing up my knee. (That thing is HEAVY!) I tried the XP machine the other day, and still no Web access. A Web site or the browser (I don't remember which) suggested that there was a firewall problem. I checked, and no firewall was turned on. I poked around in the Internet connection settings, and lo and behold, the http and https and FTP services were turned off for wireless access. I turned them on, and presto! Web access! I'm posting from that machine.

I'm still running into the problem that some sites aren't supporting browsers that run on XP. Eventually I might upgrade this machine to Windows 7. I wonder if I can get it cheaply.

I tried my netbook too. It's working fine (and it is nice and light for travel, plus it's nice to use in bed), but it has an annoying ad virus. I'm going to try a good malware program and see if I can get it off, but I might need an expert to get rid of it.

I'm also following the news about Hurricane Matthew closely. It's giving me a weird case of déjà vu to Katrina. I hope that it won't be as catastrophic, but an awful lot of areas will be affected by it. I want to go to Charleston and Savannah with my mom too, but it won't happen anytime soon.

I'm now off for five days! I'm going to kick it off tomorrow by getting my straggly mop of hair trimmed. I might also take some books to the coffeeshop and read.
