Sick Day

Overslept because my alarm didn’t go off. Took the dogs out and it’s cold. We came in when Bella wanted to come in. I need to take a shower because I have a hair appointment, so I’ll be late for work. I emailed in sick to get more time. And my stomach is upset, so it’s not lying.

Got my ballot ready to drop off. Thank you, League of Women Voters' Web site.

I’m having my hair cut and conditioned. And my eyebrows waxed. I look much better. Dropped off my ballot. Now I'm at work. I emailed in sick because my stomach is upset. I ate, and it is not agreeing with me. Crawled back into bed. Gracie is fascinated by my ears.

Hmm. Travel and Living recommended Uruguay for retirement. It’s not expensive, has liberal politics, has good weather, and it’s safe. Something to check out. It would be a pain to get to Europe from there though.

Slept until 5:30 PM. The dogs don’t want to come in. Fed us all.

Transferred money to pay for my investment newsletter. I need to call Schwab to get my debit card sent to me.

Checking in on the election results. Hmm, the Champaign County Park District hires people for the season. That might be a good retirement job.

Got the garbage out. The goofball dogs are both trying to jump on my lap. They make me laugh.

Watched an episode of The Pitt. I'm hooked.

Overslept but made it to work.

The TA fixed my problem. Yay! I found a problem with my web page though that I need to fix (done and submitted after some hassles).

Oh good. My next assignment is due October 1st. I can tidy up for the cleaners tonight.

I was thinking about my house. My neighbor was saying that they were wondering who would move in because the house was a little small for a family, and here I am :) It's perfect for one person with pets (and lots of books).

Right on cue, Mimi came over to "talk" to me. It's almost feeding time.

Crud. I just realized that I have to get the garbage out tonight. (I’m still in my pajamas.) I guess that I’ll throw clothes on later (done).

Took a nap.

I’m thirsty. I need to drink some carbonated water. Just realized that I didn’t eat dinner.

I need to get up a little early to put the hose away (the mowers are coming tomorrow) and take some recycling out.

Finished tidying up. Practiced piano. Studied Italian. Put towels in the dryer.

I’m not sure how I feel about voting by mail. On the one hand, it’s more convenient, but there’s something neat about joining your fellow citizens in doing your civic duty. I probably will vote by mail though. I need to fill out an application. Oh drat, my printer needs ink. Found ink.

Ah, a cat fight. What a glorious way to start the day. Not. I chased Mimi off.

Oh awesome. I found a singing group in Lake Chapala, and apparently, the director gives voice lessons. This area is looking promising. There's an interesting English-language book club in Guadalajara too. (Lake Chapala is close to Guadalajara.)

Took a nap after wrangling with Mimi about her lying on me. She was especially stubborn today. (I did let her lie on me for a while. I'm not a big meanie. But she doesn't get the concept of "enough".)

Oh. My. God. Just looked at the New York Times, and saw the news about the synagogue shooting. When I was growing up in Evanston, most of my friends went to a synagogue down the street from me, and I was always worried that something like this would happen. I have no words. The haters are coming out of the woodwork.

Did laundry, scrubbed a litter box, cleaned part of the kitchen, and studied Spanish. Walked.

My Spanish lesson was frustrating as usual. My teacher doesn't realize that I blank out on English words too. I have been practicing. Sigh.

Talked to Mom for 2.25 hours. Holy cow. She's very upset about what's going on in the world, so we talked about that. We also talked about plans for Christmas. She also chided me about not knowing what I'm going to vote for in November, so I brought up the League of Women Voters site up.
