Winnipeg?!?
May. 8th, 2012 02:16 pmThe plot thickens....I applied for a job in a suburb of Columbus, OH, and the recruiter called me right away, but the job is a temporary position for 3 - 9 months, which won't work. Oh well. However, the recruiter said that she is going to be staffing a permanent position in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, so I asked her to make me a candidate for that position. I don't know anything about Winnipeg....
Well, I just did some research on Winnipeg. I could bring the cats into the country if they have a rabies certificate. Housing is kind of pricey, so I'd need a good salary. Summers sound nice (70s) but winter is beastly (around zero) and very snowy. However, many apartments pay for heat. I don't know how managing my health problems would work; there might be a gap between moving and getting health care. (Must investigate further.) Canada wants a detailed list of anything that I would bring into the country if I moved there, which would be a major pain. (I would like some relocation funds too.) I couldn't find information about getting a driver's license, but I think that there's a way to get an international driver's license?? It would take 18-20 hours of driving time to get there. That's about it for a half-hour of research.
