The Not-So-Secret Garden

Something dug up my basil. I replanted it, but that might not bode well. My mom and I joke about planting gardens for the critters in the neighborhood. My neighbor forgot to put the sprayer on the hose. I looked at watering wands, but would rather not spend the money on one. I said to the neighbor, "I used to have one, but I don't know what happened to it," not realizing that the time that I had one was in California! Long gone. I found a watering wand on eBay for only $9 with free shipping, so I ordered one.
I swear that the mint has grown since yesterday. It seems very happy. I keep going over to check on the plants.
Overcast, with a few drops of rain. I'm hoping that it will rain harder to soak my plants.
Read an article about how Barnes and Noble is likely to close. It's sad that brick- and-mortar bookstores are closing. I found some great books in browsing bookstores. However, I buy books from Amazon, so I'm part of the problem. (In my defense, there are no bookstores in town.)
Amazed at what I remember of Hawaii. My mom and I were talking about the eruptions in Hawaii, and I mentioned hiking through Kilauea Iki, and she thought that it was erupting, and I said that I thought Halemaumau had the liquid lava. Looked it up, and that was exactly right. (They both are craters on Kilauea, hence the confusion.) How long has that been lurking in my memory store? Almost 50 years? My dad also couldn't believe that I remember any of the first Hawaii trip, when I was really little, but I remember a few things. (And yes, I really, really liked Hawaii as a kid, which no doubt helped me remember.)
