Dragged myself out of bed around 8:30 AM. No call from the dryer repair guy. He finally called around 10, came by, and fixed it.

We had lunch (actually breakfast food) at McDonalds. Then we got my car's headlight fixed.

Mom bought me over-the-toilet shelves and some plastic baskets for organizing.

We decided to lie down for a while. I intended to get up at 9:30 PM, but woke up at 11 PM. Mom appears to still be asleep. Fed the cats, and I'm not sure if I should eat something or not. I finally did, assuming that Mom wasn't going to get up.

Opened a second checking account with PNC. The account is for regular bills; I'll be able to transfer funds to the account from my deposit account, and set up automatic payment. The bank asked when I started my job, so I went to LJ to find out, and wound up reading all the entries about my car spinout, new car, etc. What a mess that was.

Decided that Mom isn't getting up and had some fish and mashed potatoes.

I just heard Mom moving around. She's going back to sleep.

Signed up for my blog site using Bluehost. I get $60.00 worth of Swagbucks from the transaction. Win-win. Now my browser is hanging though.

Okay, it's way late and I need to sleep.

I was reading about budgeting, and it occurred to me that I need a time "budget" too. One thing at a time though.

Woke up at 10 AM. Went back to sleep. Woke up at 11 and got up.

Mimi is rolling around on the floor like a goof.

Got the girls and myself fed.

Heck. I downloaded the Disney World app to look at the wait times for rides, but now I don't see it on the app. No, I found it under location. Not intuitive.

Kitty Drama. Zara was walking too close to Mimi for Mimi's liking. Sigh. I gave Zara Mimi's leftover food because Mimi won't eat it and Zara's thin.

Took a nap. Overslept a little. Was a little late for my first budgeting webinar because it had to install software. Now I'm in the middle of them.

Ran the gauntlet of budgeting webinars. I think that they were useful. There are a couple more that aren't scheduled for today, but I'll probably watch the recordings on YouTube. I'm going to be on the computer later and, in the past, I would have left it on, but I shut it down to save electricity.

Took out the garbage. Now it's time for cleaning. Started laundry. Soaked a litter box. Cleaned the kitchen counters.

I went to make my baked cod, but it was still frozen. I had left it wrapped in plastic, so it was taking longer. I took it out of the plastic and put it back in the fridge. I made tortellini instead.

Swept the floor. I'm going to need to get on my hands and knees and scrub it, but I'll wait until tomorrow to do that. If I eat tortellini tomorrow, I'll be done with eating early and will have time to scrub.

Now I'm going to work on my budget for a while and cool off.

Ugh. There is a mosquito-based illness that causes brain swelling, and it's in Orlando. There also were a couple of shark attacks off the coast of Florida.

Added: Oh. My. God. There was a shooting at the Gilroy Garlic Festival. I always meant to go there, but never did. No place is safe.

The budget person ("Budgetnista") suggested having a checking account for bills only so that you don't spend the money that you need for bills and that you know how much cash is on hand. So I opened another checking account with no fee. The Budgetnista also recommends having a saving account that's separate from your checking accounts, which I already have.

Bought dry cat food from Amazon. Now I'm really going to bed.

Woke up around 11 AM. It's going to be a hot day; the forecasters are predicting 94F, so I'm going to stay inside. I had wanted to clean out the car. Oh well. The temperature is supposed to go down later in the week.

I bought a few bottles of diet cola yesterday. I mostly want to drink water, but it was good to have a glass of fizzy goodness this morning.

I was looking for a Spiralizer recipe to make this week. I found one with asparagus and zucchini, but it calls for carrot juice. I don't have a juicer. I did find a used juicer on Facebook Marketplace, but how often would I use it? A lot of the recipes that I've flagged call for butternut squash (mmm), so I can really get going in the fall. Also found a recipe for baked cod fillets, so I should thaw some fillets. I have a lot of frozen vegetables, so I can serve it with them.

I thought that I had another Spiralizer cookbook, but I guess not.

Dozed for a half-hour. Tossed in a load of laundry. Had a moment of Kitty Drama, but they broke it up when I told them to cut it out. I'm glad that they listen to me. Had a bite to eat.

Did some meal planning and wrote up a grocery list. Ate dinner. Took a nap, slept through a "severe" thunderstorm, and slept for three hours. Fed the patient girls.

I need the forms from my budget book, so I'm going to poke around online. The author didn't think of what Kindle readers would do. I could recreate them, but that would be a pain.

Woke up at 11 AM and went back to sleep "for a half hour" and slept for two hours. I'm wondering if it's too late to get tires. If I go on Monday, though, it might be less busy. I also forgot to order Zara's meds yesterday, so I can't pick them up today. Oh well.

I decided to wait to get the tires. I told myself that I am on vacation, although I want to get some stuff done, so I'm going to take a nap.

Stepping outside is like stepping into an oven. There is a "special weather statement" about the heat and humidity. (It's 91 F.) Hmm, I had planned to make Lemon Rice Soup tomorrow, but if it's really hot, maybe not. That reminds me, buy ice cream!

The cats are setting my priorities for me. I was going to take a shower when Mimi kept telling me to pay attention to her. I stopped and snuggled with her for about 10 minutes. Now I'm out of the shower and Zara is on my lap.

Got out to run errands. I did break down and buy a small bottle of soda to drink while I was running errands. (Yes, I know that isn't the best use of money, but it was good.) Aldi had a "car cleaning kit" (long-handled brush and squeegee) on sale a couple of weeks ago. I wanted it, but didn't have the money. Today, there was one left at 1/2 price. Score!! And now I can wash the car at home! I've got the ingredients to make Lemon Rice Soup plus some other odds and ends. That reminds me; I bought some frozen cod fillets, so I need to look for recipes. I got the cats their food, so now they both can eat the food that they like.

Now I'm learning about budgeting. I think that I'll learn a little more before going to sleep.

It's been raining on and off all day. Gray, gloomy, dreary. I had problems getting up.

I'm in the middle of the tedium known as patron load. I hand-build files that are batch-loaded into our library system. It's going well, but I brought my laptop home to 1) build another file before I go to sleep (although I'm thinking of going to sleep and getting up early??), and 2) check the test load in the morning. I might have to bring my laptop home on Friday (my Saturday) too. But I can't complain; I don't work overtime much. And this year, I WILL learn Python and write scripts to format these files!

Starting next month, I want to get serious about the Mediterranean diet. I already found a recipe that I really want to make: Feta and Spinach Couscous patties. It calls for fresh dill, and a lot of recipes call for fresh herbs. That got me thinking about whether I should grow fresh herbs in my kitchen. I have the room for them. The question is whether it would be cost effective? Fresh herbs are expensive (does anyone know exactly how much the grocery store charges for fresh herbs?), but I'd be looking at $20 for seed and starter mix. Plus electricity for a grow light. I don't know...thoughts?

I'm also wondering if it would be cost-effective to join Sams Club (no Costco in this area), but I'd have to add the cost of gas for a 45-minute drive one way. Maybe not. I guess what I should do is get a pass to go look inside one and see if they have enough stuff that I would buy. (A "frugal living" blog said that they got cheap salmon at Costco.)

I'm tired. I think that I'm going to cuddle kitties and go to bed.
