I bought a pair of waterproof orthotic shoes for Italy. We'll see how they work.

Oops, I forgot to ask the Italy tour guide if my suitcase will be too big for the train. I’ll do so tomorrow (done). They said that there were no limits, but I need to be able to lift it.

Got clothes in the dryer. Showered and shaved my legs so that I can wear shorts. First, I need to find what box the shorts are in, but I think that I know which one. Yeah, I found them. I'll bring a couple of pairs to Italy, but a lot of the places (e.g., museums) have a dress code that precludes wearing them. I need to dig out some sandals. Now I'm working barefoot. But it's 88F today, and I'm able to cope in my home office upstairs with shorts and a t-shirt, my fan, and bare feet. I want to use an air conditioner only if I have to use one.

I'm debating whether I should go to tai chi tonight or not. I'm so freaking tired and want to lie down after work. I'm going to stay home. Self-care :)

I looked up "how to tame unruly brows," and found a recommendation for some brow gel that is made from mustache wax. I'll give it a try (ordered). It's certainly cheaper than brow lamination.

I'm trying to figure out how much money to put in my flexible spending account (FSA). I'm going to have a ton of money from last year because I didn't have therapy appointments. (I plan to spend a pot of money on glasses. I checked into moving up my eye doctor appointment, but can't move it earlier.) I will have dentist appointments though. The amount that I can carry over from this year will pay the copay for two-thirds of my therapy appointments. I think that I'll log on later after it cools off to figure the amount out. I need to look at my copays for previous dental appointments, although I'll be going to another dentist in Urbana. Crap. I looked up my balance, and I have way too much money to spend by June 30th. I need to set up a dental appointment for right after I get back from Italy. The flexible spending account should be $700 plus dental. Dental is looking like $110 a visit, with four visits, so $1140 total. This, apparently, is when my medical ship comes in.

Okay, now it's too hot to be working on a computer upstairs. I'm going to go downstairs and cool off. Bother. The ceiling fan in my bedroom doesn’t work. Zara thinks that it’s cuddle time. Aren’t you hot, Zara? Though she’s been downstairs where it’s cooler all day.

I finished reading the novel about a family with a transgender child: This Is How It Always Is. It’s good.

Okay, I want to use part of the FSA funds to get a fancy scale, an ear cleaner, and an eye mask for headaches. And maybe a massage gun. No, a Sharper Image massage heating pad. Maybe a shoulder relief pillow system? I think that I can spend the money. And compression socks. Okay, I bought a mini massager that will go with me to Italy if it gets here in time, a headache wrap, a neck wrap, and the scale. Oops, I went back and got compression socks, which I hope will get here before I leave for Italy. And the ear cleaner.

I had thought about getting an electric toothbrush, but apparently, that’s not FSA-eligible. Why?

A security bulletin at work convinced me to change my passcode on my phone to an alphanumeric one. It’s kind of a pain, but probably is more secure.

The cats are off their feed. I don't know why. Because it's hot?

I'm going to go to bed and get up early, when it's cool.

Paris!

Oh hell. I forgot an assignment, but it was worth only one point. I need to get my act together. I added it to my calendar.

It's weird seeing all the boxes.

Mimi is heat-vent worshiping. I was thinking that it wasn't that cold out, but it is 34 F/1 C. Not warm, although anything above freezing is "warmish" to me. Mimi is such a goof. She rolls around on the stairs when I’m there and sometimes loses her balance and slips to the next stair down. She makes me laugh. She has no dignity whatsoever :) I'm wondering if I got a young male cat, she would get along with him. But I really should talk to the cat behaviorist. But I'm looking at young male cats. Actually, I found the perfect cat. A one year old male cat who likes and has lived with both other cats and dogs. He's an orange tabby cutie. He'll get snapped up fast probably.

I'm craving a nap and got it at lunch.

Crap. I forgot to pick my BistroMD meals again. I need a reminder on my phone (done). I added a reminder for my assignment too.

The Road Scholar 2025 trips to Paris are available for registration now. Anyone have an idea on the best time of year to go to Paris? I asked my dad, but wouldn't mind other input. In my mind's eye, I see Paris in the fall, but spring would be nice too. I want to put a deposit down ASAP because those trips sell out. Oh, I am so excited! I just ordered a current Paris guidebook. Dad said May or September. He also said that if there are protests or terrorist attacks, stay away from there. It’s sweet that he worries about me, but I don’t know how I would know about that in advance.

I have a craving for some French bread which might or might not be connected to the Paris trip. Too bad that I did a grocery order yesterday. Do I want to pay a delivery fee for some bread and butter?

Pottery Barn sent me a moss green swatch that I really like for the loveseat and chair. I need to see how it looks with the paint swatch, but I bet it would look good. Oh yeah, it looks good with the paint swatch.

I did get some French bread and Irish butter and some other snacks. The bread and butter was delicious.

I’ve got the garbage and recycling out.

I think that I need to go to sleep and get up EARLY to work on homework. I'm too worn out right now.

I can't get Google Keep on my new phone because Google wants the old phone or the phone before that to confirm that it's me logging in. They don't seem to imagine that someone might have their phone stolen. So I won't be able to work on entries throughout the day.

I think that I forgot to mention yesterday that the movers will pack anything that I don't get done. So that's a relief. I'm getting a late start today, but I think that I needed it.

Repacked some boxes. It was about 3 PM when I loaded the old boxes in the car and took them to be recycled. I also needed to get more boxes. I was wondering if I would have enough time to make it back before nightfall, but I was dubious.

I forgot to mention that I wished that I had a dumpster while I was repacking boxes because I want to get rid of a lot of stuff. I mulled over a dumpster for the new place, but there's no good place to put one. Maybe I'll get two garbage cans for a while.

While I was driving back from the recycling place, I was swamped with a wave of sadness for no good reason. That was another reason not to go back.

As it turned out, the first U-Haul place that I went to was closed, and I wound up spending a long time at the second place because something that I was buying was not in their system. Then I went to Meijer to pick up the things that I forgot yesterday (sigh). The grocery clerk was shocked that I was paying cash. I said, "I think that I can still do that," and he said, "Yeah, that still works...for now." :)

Now I think that it's nap time. Couldn't sleep. Read part of the book about the Astors. (I finished the book about the Vanderbilts recently.)

I think that I'll have something to eat and then settle into bed. I might read for a while, but I need to be up early because the movers will be there at 8:30 AM.

days_unfolding: (Default)

I woke up early but went back to sleep for an hour. Dropped the old boxes at the recycling place.

Went to the Engineering Library at the Uni to print off my emails stating that I requested mail to be forwarded to Michigan from Urbana. I went to use the washroom and apparently left my iPhone behind. And it was gone.

It's scary how lost I am without a phone. I wanted to go to Xfinity to get a new one, but I couldn't print off the directions because I needed the phone to verify my login. So I decided to wing it.

Found the place and, after a while, walked out with the latest iPhone, which I will watch like a hawk. I was five minutes away from my hotel room, so I went back there to eat lunch.

Then I went to the post office. After a long wait, they said that there was no record in the system of the mail forwarding that I requested. They gave me a number to call, but I submitted a Change of Address form so that the mail would be forwarded in the future. Sigh.

Then I went to the rental and took two loads of old boxes to the recycling place.

Then I took a nap. I went to the grocery store afterward and picked up some things. Now I'm doing laundry. I really want to go back to sleep. and I will as soon as my laundry is done.

The photography teacher got back to me and wants to talk on Google Meet this weekend to see if we're a good fit. Awesome.

Had the real estate walkthough. He said to get the ivy off of the house and do some landscaping. He'll contact me with a landscaper, painter, and roofer. I told him that I would be gone early to mid-November. He said that he thought that the house would sell in the $250,000 - $300,000 range. He and the landscaper came back and talked, and they sent me an estimate.

Had a meeting with the trust about auto insurance. They said that they could give me better coverage with both cars on the policy for less than I'm paying now. And the trust will pay for it. Awesome.

Called about my pharmacy cards, and they are sending them.

The guys came to assemble the rower.

I got my iPhone activated on Xfinity Mobile, but I'm having a tough time installing apps. They go into limbo. Okay, I did a software update and now it’s working.

Napped and overslept. Got my iPhone set up with mail and authentication.

days_unfolding: (Default)

My boss said that June would be better for my Italy trip. I got the trip transferred to June. I owe a little more money, which I will pay off (done). And hey, I should be down to my target weight by then! That will help with walking!

Wacky weather is wacky. I've been wearing hoodies over t-shirts to deal with it. This morning, it was in the 50s, so I put on a hoodie, but it's supposed to hit 80 this afternoon! I'm looking forward to usual fall weather because I want to pack most of my summer stuff for Kauai early in case I find that I need to get something for the trip.

CNN showcased a fold-up fire pit from REI that would be perfect for my patio in Urbana. I wonder, then, if I should take my Mom's patio furniture with me and then get the fire pit. I'd be ready for fall parties!

I received the iPhone. I started charging it, and it wanted to set up as soon as I plugged it in. I have all my files transferred from my Android before the phone is even fully charged. Pretty slick, Apple. I have an appointment at an Xfinity store Wednesday night to get the phone set up for their mobile service.

I found a ring that I would like, but I should wait until I lose the weight to get it. It's too expensive for a short-term ring. Maybe that'll be my reward for losing the weight. Along with a sheath dress or sweater dress :)

The assembly guy is here. He didn't have his friend with him, so he lifted the box and carried it downstairs by himself. Pretty impressive. The man has muscles. He's done and the Total Gym looks cool. I'll have to look for the CDs with the exercises. Oh, they have them online. I want to make sure to do back and leg exercises to build up strength for my trip, but I also want to do arms because my arm strength sucks.

The cats are saying two paws up for the Squeeze Ups. It took Mimi a little longer to realize that I had squeezed it on my finger.

Got the garbage and recycling out. Because it's gotten late, I'm going to gather the laundry and pretreat it for stains (I get makeup on my clothes a lot) and just do legs on the Total Gym (done--I added arms). I'll do my back and abs tomorrow.

Zara has rediscovered the joy of hiding under a table with a tablecloth at the top of the stairs. When she was a young cat, she used to hide there and jump out at us, and we would pretend to be surprised. Now she just likes it as a place to hide.

Zara was scratching at the door when I was getting dressed after my shower. I opened the door and she ran away. I found her sitting pointedly by her food bowl downstairs. Okay, I get the message :)

Today is my mom's birthday. Sigh.

I think that I will get the refurbished iPhone (14). I like the "Pro" version, which is more expensive but has a lot of features that I like.

I've got an appointment next week with a realtor.

I emailed my professor for the programming classes next spring and heard back. She said that I shouldn't have any problems registering for classes, but to contact her if I have any issues.

The box with the stepper got here early. I managed to get it in the front door. Tomorrow (which I'm taking off of work), I'll clear a path for the guys who are coming on Friday to bring it downstairs.

I'm looking at a trip to Paris in 2025. My dad loves Paris, and it would be great to discuss my trip with him. Road Scholar has an "independent" trip that goes to a lot of the museums but also has free time. I'd need to brush up on my French. Road Scholar doesn't have the dates for 2025 up yet. All their single rooms for 2024 are sold out, so I need to register as soon as the dates go up. They said that they'd email me when the 2025 dates go up.

I should apply for Global Entry while I'm here because it would be easier to get to the airport here. Oh crud, it takes four to six months to get an appointment for an interview. I guess that I'll have to go up to Chicago. And I need to apply NOW.

I'm going to make appointments with an Italian teacher (booked a lesson) and French teacher (contacted the teacher, who said that she was booked up).

Okay, I bought the iPhone after checking the company out (it wasn't on eBay, but was a separate company called Reebelo), and they seem legit. I also bought an extra charger from Amazon.

I lay down for a while but didn't sleep. I got some snuggles with Mimi. It's cold and rainy outside, and I'm wearing short sleeves, so I'm going to put on my extra warm pajamas.

I checked on a Website, and I can get $166 for my Pixel 6 Pro. I'll take it once I get the iPhone set up.

Oh crud. My Kia Soul is on a recall list. But it has to do with fires, so it's important. At least the Kia dealer here is cool.

I filled out the Global Entry application, and was checking some errors that it thought that I had in the addresses, and now I'm getting a server error. Shit. I'll post and try again in a few minutes like they suggested. They should have most of it saved if I have to quit out.

days_unfolding: (Default)

Bought a few more pairs of 16P jeans. Paid my Comcast bill (in Urbana). Got laundry going. Requested that my CVS prescriptions be sent to me.

I seem to be losing weight around my middle, which is good because it's the "bad" fat, but I haven't lost much weight off of my boobs. Size XL jackets are still not fitting well. Oh well.

My second monitor for work wasn't working. I unplugged and replugged in the cable, nothing. Finally, I turned the docking station off and on--and it came up. It's going to be a weird day.

I added a flight to my Italy trip, but the debit card wouldn't let me pay the whole amount remaining for the trip. So I'm doing $2000 at a time. Kind of a pain, but whatever.

I've got two TaskRabbit guys coming on Friday to get the table, move the stepper downstairs, and put garbage in the dumpster.

I started looking at a trip to Colorado. Damn, hotels in Denver are expensive. Found a couple that might work. Now I'm trying to figure out what to do in Denver. I found a hotel in Glenwood Springs, the town that I liked.

The bad dumpster company is offering me one-half what I paid back. I think that it's the best that I'm going to get from them, but I'm not going to say that to them.

I looked into Comcast as a mobile provider, but someone said that they use Verizon towers and that Verizon throttles data access. Hmm. As I recall, though, AT&T didn't have great coverage here. Comcast does have a good price and international access for $10/day. I might give them a shot. I talked to them, and they would have to ship the phone to Illinois. Bah. Hmm. I can get a refurbished unlocked iPhone 14 for a good price on eBay. I need to think about this. I sent an email to Erik to get his take.

I started going through books in the plant room, which is the fun part of my homework. I got quite a stack because Mom had a bunch of picture books about Italy and Provence.

Headache. Need to lie down for a while. Couldn't sleep.

Hmm. If I want to write my app (my independent study project for next summer) for the iPhone instead of Android, I'd need a MacBook. The fun never stops. It might make more sense to get a cheap Android phone to test the app.

I think that I'm going to put laundry in the dryer and go to bed.

days_unfolding: (Default)

Oh wow. I found a company that does photography tours of Olympic National Park in Washington state. I would really like to go on that trip.

Yay, the dumpster is gone. Now I have to try to get money back from them, which I suspect will be a saga.

I am tired. I was up late with one thing and another. Had a nice nap over lunch, but now I'm freezing.

I had my meeting with the estate sale person and liked him. I signed with them. They want proof that I am allowed to sell the items from the estate, and the trust said that they would provide it. I also signed up to have the estate sale people pack up and donate stuff when the sale is done. By that point, I won't want to deal with the stuff. It'll cost $2000, but I'm getting used to bills with lots of zeros.

I'm really less-than-thrilled with Verizon. They asked for a copy of my driver's license, which I provided on Sunday, but no one released the order. After multiple people and a lot of hold time, they said that they can't confirm my identity, so I can't have service with Verizon. Lovely. Judging by my interactions with Verizon, though, I might have dodged a bullet. I'm going to see if I can get service through AT&T, but I'm going to go to the store, so if they don't like the fact that I'm from out of state, I won't have spent hours on the phone.

It got late while I was in phone and chat hell, so I'm going to feed the cats and eat and pay a few bills (done) and call it a night. Oh, and soak a litter box (done). I'm really tired.

days_unfolding: (Default)

Oh, I forgot to mention that I got the title to Mom's car, and it made me sad because I can now sell it. My colleague/friend at work suggested that I keep it and get rid of my car. I'm considering it. I wish that it had map lights like my car. Now I'm thinking of keeping both cars for now because one will be better for hauling the cats, and the other will be better for hauling the planters and other breakable items. I can get it straightened out in Illinois. Maybe I'll buy a new car when the estate is settled.

My jeans keep trying to fall off of me. They actually did fall off the other day. I'll be happy when I go down a size.

I'm feeling depressed about my dad's memory issues and knowing that I'll probably have 10 years to do what I want in retirement before I'll have issues too. Aging is a bitch.

I'm wearing one of the new tie-dye hoodies and love it. It's very pretty in tones of purple and blue. I'll take a picture of it later.

I forgot to choose my BistroMD meals. I now have a reminder set on my phone. And now on my electronic calendar!

Okay. The dumpster people said that they'd pick it up tomorrow.

The sprinkler guys were here, and the fix was easy; the water was not turned on! Now to get the lawn reseeded....

I got my work calendar to sync to my electronic calendar. Excellent. Life at a glance! The calendar can also function as a digital photo frame when you're not using the calendar, so I decided to get the add-on. It would be cool to see some of my trip pictures while I'm working.

Ugh. I just realized that I never submitted Mimi's dental bills to the pet insurance. Too much was going on around then.

Verizon has already sent me a bill. Um, can you wait until I get the new phone activated?

The trust said that they are still in the period where creditors can claim debts on the estate. It'll end mid-October. They said that the house is not a part of the trust, however, and they need the binder with her will. I just found it and said that I would drop it off (done).

I had a free consult with a marketing student from the uni about promoting my travel blog-to-be on social media. She had some good ideas. I joined some Facebook groups for solo female travelers.

Yay. I finally got an estate sale person coming out tomorrow with a lot of misses because the house was out of people's areas. I think that some companies concentrate on the ritzy suburbs north of here.

I figured out that I want to stay at the Hilton Garden Inn when I come back to get the interior of the house painted. It has a refrigerator and a microwave. And I'm sure that their WiFi would be good.

I made an appointment to get COVID, flu, RSV, and shingles vaccines on Saturday. Wow, am I going to be sore.

Through a couple of hours of effort (and help from Sinéad O'Connor), I got my bedroom picked up and more organized. The suitcases are closed (and two are stowed in the closet), and you can walk through the room! Mimi does not approve because it's different.

days_unfolding: (Default)

Hmm. Verizon is offering the iPhone 14, which is what Erik has, for $8.33 a month for 36 months (for 512GB). And their plan is cheaper than AT&T. I think that I'll go for that. I don't need the new shiny iPhone. And I can get a purple phone! Oh heck, I think that the deal is online only. I might need help transferring files from my Android. I found out how to transfer files. I'll have to install apps though.

Oh, I need to check Verizon's international coverage. I know that AT&T has it. Verizon has TravelPass, in which you pay only $10 a day for overseas coverage only on days that you use the phone overseas. That's cheaper than AT&T.

I ordered some long-sleeved tops to wear under my hoodies from Walmart. I'm on the hunt for more hoodies. Okay, I ordered some hoodies from Buddha Groove and Cosmic Clothing Co. I also ordered another pair of warm pajamas for winter. I think that I'm set.

Had a nice nap. Mimi was snuggling with me. It's cat-snuggling weather. I tried lying down again but couldn't sleep. I think working on the chaos in my bedroom after a shower and lunch would help. I need to do lots of laundry.

I was thinking of taking a shower, but I was getting a headache, which is usually a sign that I need to eat, plus Zara wanted to be fed NOW, so I went downstairs. I started a load of laundry.

The organizers found $40 that Mom had tucked away in a teapot. I think that will be walking around money, which got depleted on the trip.

Now that I've eaten, I want to nap. I could do a half hour, but I need to practice guitar and singing because I didn't practice this week because it was a zoo of a week. I dozed for a half hour.

I forgot to mention that sometimes my organizer and I find some humor in the proceedings. Mom had a picture of the Virgin Mary in which the eyes open and close when you tilt the picture. We dubbed her "Creepy Mary" :)

Guitar and singing went well. My teacher is a great teacher, and not all great singers are great teachers. I think that I lucked out this time.

WTF? I tried to pull my belt in past the holes in it. I'll need a new belt soon!

Ack! I'm trying to sign up with Verizon and am running into difficulties. First, the credit application said that I needed to call them, so I did. The person whom I talked to said that she didn't know why it said that and that I was approved for $7000. She then said that she could finish the application for me. But she needed the account number and PIN from Google Fi. I wound up having to call Google Fi to get it. The Verizon person said that she would call me back, but she might have gotten hung up with someone else. I called back and got someone who didn't sound like she knew what she was doing, but eventually my order went through. Then Verizon wanted me to take a picture of my driver's license, and it rejected picture after picture. Sigh. I think that I'm done now.

I put laundry in the dryer and a new load in the washer. It's too late to start anything new now, so I think that I'll go to sleep. I've been yawning.

days_unfolding: (Default)

Ugh. I had my alarm set for 7 AM, woke up, and decided to go back to sleep for an hour.

I was looking at new Italian teachers because mine is stopping teaching. I found a few possibilities. His timing is bad for me given that I'm going to Italy next year.

I looked at iPhones at Verizon because it's cheaper than AT&T, but they don't have the purple iPhone, and the phones won't be available for a couple of weeks. Oops, AT&T doesn't have the purple phone after all. And it won't be available for a couple of weeks. But the phone is cheaper with a trade-in.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I booked flights back and forth to Chicago for my Hawaii trip.

The organizer and her assistant have come and gone. We got most of my mom's bedroom done, which was a major undertaking. Her assistant got all the glassware out of the plant room. I have some "homework": get the dumpster situation settled, get an estate sale person in here, and go through a couple of boxes in my mom's bedroom. Our next session is on Sunday, which precludes setting up an Italian session, but we're going back to Saturday the following week.

I'm making lunch right now (and Zara is reminding me to feed her!), and then I'll drive to the bike shop to drop off the turn signals that I got from eBay.

Made it to the bike shop (thank you, phone GPS). I indulged in a donut because I really, really wanted one. It's eating a box of them is the problem.

I was wearing my points of a compass t-shirt, jeans, and a jean jacket, and I thought that I looked pretty good :)

Nap time. Mimi is vegging/snoozing (hard to tell the difference!) next to me. Couldn't sleep. I usually can tell within a few minutes whether I can sleep or not. Maybe I'll just go to bed early.

The person who owns the Urbana house asked to talk to me tomorrow for "a favor," and I'm curious what that's about.

Oh, I forgot to mention (so much is happening right now!) that I got the new laptop. I think that I'll go set it up after I move some of Mom's clothes from my room to the bed in her room. And I need to make an appointment with a TaskRabbit person to pack up her remaining clothes.

My curiosity got the best of me, and I looked under my mom's bed. It's not so bad. A couple of boxes of papers, a box of my grandmother's things, and some cassette tapes that I need to ask the estate sale person about. I'll see how far I'll get on them this week. I'd like to be done with that room. Oh, I also moved some of Mom's clothes from my room to her bedroom, and found a pretty scarf and a hat that looks good on me, and requested a TaskRabbit person for a week from tomorrow to pack up her clothes. (She accepted the job.) One of my tasks for this week is to separate my clothes from her clothes and wash any clothes that have been lying around. If I'm really ambitious, I'll go through Mom's scarves and shawls. (There are a lot of them!)

I went upstairs and finished going through my mom's "memory box". I can go to sleep with a good sense of accomplishment!

days_unfolding: (Default)

I'm eyeing a deep purple iPhone. I can get a deal from AT&T if I trade in my phone. But I'm not ready to take the plunge yet. But I hate the flaky signal with Google Fi. Hmm, the AT&T store in Troy has the new one and is open on Saturday and Sunday. I checked, and there is a way to transfer files from an Android phone to an iPhone.

My Italian teacher is going for a Master's Degree and wants to take a break from teaching. I guess that I need to study Italian on my own. I need to come up with a lesson plan.

Oh, I need to remember to call the dumpster people back.

Kind of groggy this morning. Back to work today. The cats have had the morning excitement known as "food". I hope that we get back into a routine. It's kind of gloomy out. And kind of chilly, so I threw on a hoodie. Fall is coming....I'm feeling perpetually hungry too. I guess that I need to get used to the BistroMD meals again. All I really want to do is sleep. I think that it's my body's reaction to all of the activity of the past few days. The cats are sleepy too.

The organizer confirmed the Saturday appointment. I have a lot to do this week with the home inspection on Friday and organizer on Saturday. I feel like I'm forgetting something.

I forgot to mention that I really like my Kizik shoes. I bought them because they advertised that they were hands-free shoes (and they are), which I thought would be good for the airport. But they turned out to be perfect walking shoes. And having the backpack counteracted my tendency to lean forward.

I pinged the Haight-Ashbury store where I bought the tie-dye hoodies, and they sent me an invoice for the shipping. Excellent. I was afraid that they put the hoodies back.

I'm thinking of getting a new laptop with a large hard drive for editing videos. The question is whether I should get a new one or used one. I found a new HP one that I like that is even smaller than my current laptop, which would be good for travel. It's also a tablet with a stylus. I ordered the laptop, which should be here by next week if not sooner. Oh, and I'm now looking at a Toyota Corolla Hybrid as an more affordable hybrid that still has cargo room.

Mimi wants me to go upstairs and snuggle. I explained to her that I'm working, but she doesn't think that's a good reason.

Cool. Advertising students at the uni are offering a social media consultation, and I asked to discuss with them marketing strategies for my blog. I need to work on the blog and videos too.

Mimi is being obnoxious and trying to eat Zara's food. I rescued it and gave Mimi some dry food. Speaking of cats, I told my Dad that I would take his wife's cat (once I have bought a house) if she gets to a point where she can't take care of him. He's really sweet and a real cutie.

Mimi is scared by a patch of floor in my bedroom. She'll walk on top of things to avoid it. Where can I take my cat to be repaired? I napped again after work. Ye gods and little fishes, I am hammered.

Started to transfer the money for the plumbing from Mom's account, but it said that it couldn't prove that I owned my account. Huh? They're going to do the slow way with the small deposits into my account. Sigh. I'll pay for the iPhone using Mom's debit card. Got the mail and went through it. I tried on my Daily Look clothes because I got a nastygram from then and kept around half of the clothes. Now I think that I'm going back to bed.

Mom's car has a bad catalytic converter. So it's going to cost money. It seems wrong not to fix it though.

I got my new debit card and got my headlight fixed. So yay. The Midas person was really nice.

I've been going back and forth with the new insurance guy about insurance for the van to be. It looks like I'd have to get commercial insurance for it.

Took a nap and slept through until 6 AM. The cats were like, "What's with you? We're hungry!"

Why is my phone at 75% charged? It was plugged in all night!

I wore the new pajamas. They aren't as warm as I had hoped, but I have a warm robe, but oh, are they comfortable. And they have pockets! I found another pair on Walmart's Web site, so I'm ordering them. They were just under free shipping, so I'm also ordering some cat litter. They'll use it.

That reminds me that I need to stop my mail (done).

I got my Google Fi phone set up, and now it's copying data. It was relatively painless, except I couldn't remember my AT&T passcode and had to have it reset. I'm having problems getting my work email on my phone though, which I really need. I'll try again later.

I'm leaving my work computer on to test the new phone. I can call my work number and call my phone. Maybe I'll go put on makeup while it's copying because I need to run to Walgreens. I can make a list of toiletries that I need to get for the trip. Okay, it's done setting up, but my phone number hasn't transferred from AT&T yet. They did confirm that it is being transferred though.

Ran to Walgreens and spent a ridiculous amount of money for one bag of stuff. Now I'm resting for a moment, and then it's garbage time. Hmm. Tried on one new set of Skechers (the gym shoes), and they feel kind of stiff. They are cute though. The arch support Skechers are comfortable, although the arch support feels weird. Yeah, the shoes will work well. I think that I'll wear them up to Chicago.

I was thinking that I was too tired to accomplish much of anything, when I noticed that the message from AT&T said to resubmit the number transfer. I called Google Fi (which has tech support late, which is very nice) and found out how to do that. And bam--the number transferred. I tested it, and it works. I got the screen protector and case on the phone, so it's ready to roll. That perked me up a little, but I have a headache, so I think that I should go to sleep and get up early.

Woke up a little before when my alarm went off. I'm feeling tired. Zara made a big fuss over me.

My Google Fi order is still showing "out for delivery". I routed it to Walgreens because FedEx said that it would be delivered yesterday. Hmm. Okay, I got a text that it arrived.

Got my laptop set up again. I'm early for Italian. Italian went well. My teacher is impressed by how busy I am :)

Unloaded the stuff from the truck that's going inside my home. The guys did a good job tying down the entertainment center; it didn't move.

The second set of guys came and unloaded the entertainment center. It fit in storage perfectly. I covered it with a moving blanket. I remembered to gas up the truck, but I drove back with the sliding door open! Nothing was in there, so it didn't matter. Now I'm sitting for a moment before I sweep out the truck (done). I'm running early.

Dropped the truck off after having to take a million pictures of it for the U-Haul app. Went out to eat at Arby's because I was starving and hadn't had lunch. Texted my aunt's nephew with the upshot of my Chicago trip. Went grocery shopping. Mom called while I was in the store. She got her smartphone working, which is good. She's starting to pack for Chicago. I picked up the Google Fi envelope, but I'm too tired to deal with it right now.

I'm really tired. I'd like to go to sleep, but there's a study session for our test next week that I should attend. Also, I need to do laundry. I'd start it, but Zara is on my lap. Started laundry. Something is wrong with my washer because it's making a high-pitched noise when it spins. Need to call the repair person. Took out the garbage.

No study group. I should be disappointed, but actually, I'm relieved. I want to finish my laundry and go to sleep.

Solved the mystery of the missing moving tie-down. It was sent a a separate package that got misplaced. But I'm missing my spare glasses. What do I do, eat them? Fling them in the air? I need to do some serious organizing this week.

Started my nighttime tasks. And now the dryer has stopped, so I need to finish up and crash!

I'm telling Zara that she's a stomach with legs. She wants her lunchtime snack! Actually, she gained a little weight and looks good. She was very thin before.

I had a bad case of the "don't wannas" (plus I've been fighting a headache all day) for class, but I attended anyway.

I picked out a day to take off so that I can look at places in Champaign. Next week is not going to work, so I'm targeting Wednesday of the week after. (It's a case of, "Which meetings can I skip?")

I tried lying down but couldn't sleep. Just as well because I have stuff to do.

Watched a Flight Channel video about a near miss at O'Hare. A 737 doing its takeoff roll rotated early and cleared a 747 on an intersecting runway by 35 feet. The only thing to say is "Fuck!!!!!" I didn't know that O'Hare had intersecting runways. I don't think that I wanted to know that.

Things are coming together for my Chicago trip. My pet sitter will drive me to the U-Haul place. My aunt's nephew called and asked if I would be there on Saturday so that the real estate person could look around. And oh yeah, I need to doublecheck that I've got the keys to the place.

I got the Pixel and it's charging. I need to buy a case for it (done). I joined Google Fi to get them to send me the SIM for it. I need to contact AT&T for a transfer pin, but I'll wait until I'm ready to transfer the cell phone number to avoid issues with AT&T.

Started laundry. Went back to work. And oh hell, I forgot to put the clothes in the dryer. I guess that I'll dry it in the morning and wear pajamas when I start work.

Woke up around 9:30 AM. Started laundry.

I found Zara's meds. They had fallen on top of the garbage bag. I need to order more though.

I saved a recipe for zucchini bread to use up some of the extra zucchini.

I looked for used black Gloria Vanderbilt jeans on Mercari. Found a pair, but I'll wait until I get paid to order them. I'm also looking for a navy hoodie and I think that I found one. No, actually I found a London one on Poshmark. The one that I'm replacing was a London one from Epcot. I wore it out.

Got the nighttime tasks done and called in Zara's meds.

Lay down for a nap but couldn't sleep. Good. I have stuff to do. Zara is blissfully asleep though, and I hate to wake her. Zara got up with me because she wanted food.

Forgot to mention that my dad got hit with the same storm that flooded Las Vegas, although he's closer to Reno than Las Vegas. The only issue that he had was that his gutters were clogged.

I finally put my portable bidet together. The bidet part was jammed into the water tank, and it looked me forever to get it out. I wrote them a support email about it.

Oh! I forgot to schedule a French lesson for tonight! My teacher tried to schedule one for me, but it was canceled. Oh well.

Talked to Mom. For some reason, she was getting on my nerves. I don't know why. Well, part of it was that she was complaining that her mower guy wasn't coming, and she might have to find someone else for snow removal....We all have stuff like that to deal with! Mom wants to go to Portland with me. My aunt needed a transfusion.

I made the labels and put them on my phone.

I listened to some Tori Amos music on Amazon Music. I think that I'll listen to some when I clean tomorrow.

I can't find Zara's meds. I keep on finding empty bottles, but not the one with tablets in it. I fed her her food without it.

The battery on my phone is acting normally now. Good. I really don't want to replace the phone if I don't have to. I'd rather pay the phone off and then join Google Fi.

Decided to put in an order for delivery from Aldi. Wound up with two extra zucchini because I didn't realize that they came in packages of two.

Napped and slept through until morning.

I'm still off because of "Spring Holiday". I think that I'll wait to get the outdoor plants because the temperature right now is 40. The plants that I want won't cope with that well. I still need to go to the Post Office though.

Hmm. The company Purple says that their seat cushions are selling like crazy. My seat in the office has been okay though. You'd think that it would be less comfortable than it is. Someone is selling a used Purple cushion on Mercari. Need to think about it.

Zara is snuggled on my lap. Awww. But I need to get moving.

I could go to the Post Office over dinner tomorrow. Feeling lazy. Another reason to not send the old phone back yet is that I keep on checking settings on my old phone. Finally got my office e-mails working on the new phone after checking the old phone. Maybe I'll ship it on Wednesday because I have a webinar before work that day. I could take a long dinner.

Forgot to mention that I'm getting a small refund from my car insurance. Awesome.

I found an enormous "grow bag" on eBay for cheap. I could grow peas and carrots in it.

I want to go for a walk/run after I eat and shower. I found my running clothes, shoes, etc. No, I spent too much time looking at garden stuff. Tomorrow for sure.

The Master Gardeners at the University of Illinois say to plant tomatoes starting May 10, so that's probably around the right time for herbs too. Yep, the Farmer's Almanac says the the temperature shouldn't dip below 50 degrees F to grow basil. Apparently it is carrot growing season right now though, so I bought a couple of grow bags on Wish. (Not the huge one.) And I finally found some carrots and pea seeds that are container-friendly. I thought about growing Brussels Sprouts, but they were sold out. (Note to self: plan earlier next year.) Hmm, I found some Brussels Sprout seeds on another site, but I already ordered the peas.

Ugh. Airfare to Phoenix has gone up.

Popped the lasagna in the oven. Cleaned and organized the area under the sink.

The Big Honking Lasagna™ looks and smells good. It was good.

I'm going to watch a Harry Potter movie before I go to sleep.
